Hope you had a great weekend!
I had a very different kind of weekend... one with a lot of "Rest"...
Couch time... movie time... walking without high intensity exercise...
Really an atypical Coach D weekend...
Why?
I allowed myself to "relax" and "recover"....
After speaking with former Yankees first baseman, Mark Teixiera last week at our annual Guys Night... we talked about the most critical part of his success formula...
He said it was not training, but resting...
Sometimes your players inspire you!
This weekend was inspired by Mark...
And this week, I hope to inspire you!
So here is what I want from you this week... more built in rest time...
We are going to do this by "owning our transitions"... meaning, when we finish work each day, we are going to take 20 minutes of freedom for ourselves... either sitting on our favorite couch, sprawling on the floor, or sitting in our favorite chair/ hammock outside... for 20 minutes... every single day...
This will act as a transition between "work" and "play"... or for some, "work" and "work"...
Do not miss a day...
Also.. NO PHONE during this 20 minutes of freedom...
Just you and the sounds and smells around you...
This is a great way to relax the mind and allow for a very quick recovery...
And for those who like to plan... plan to take Saturday or Sunday, with at least 4 hours to yourself of outdoor time... or relax time... This week is about giving to yourself!
Let's all commit to it!
