Hope you guys had a great weekend!
This was finally a weekend I could take off and recover after hitting the road pretty hard on the Habits of a Champion Book Tour!
Here I thought writing the book was the challenging part!
Man was I wrong....
The way to have get the message out there is to still hit the pavement... shaking hands and kissing babies... from high schools to private groups and organizations to corporate speaking events to book stores!
All of it... and I love it!
But.. with all of these events.. you kind easily find yourself needing a "re-charge"...
And for me... meditation never really works...
Not that it does not work for some... but for Type A people... that are over-achievers... and always in gear (probably the type that need it most)... it can show to be difficult...
So.. what do people like us do to get the same results?
Find an alternative!
I actually have 3 alternatives...
1. Hot baths.... ( I turn the water on smoking hot... and sit in the tub with salts until I break a sweat... then I say another 5 minutes... I call this burning the top layer... the top layer is of anxiousness... and I follow this up immediately with a shower....)
2. Sauna Sessions... ( I have an infrared sauna... and after 25 minutes in it.. my pores open up and the flood gates open.. what is really cool about this is.. you go through multiple stages.. you go in anxious.. then you sweat and relax due to the heat... and then as you hydrate.. and end your session.. you find endless energy... especially after a cold shower)....
3. Laying on the Floor... ( This takes no effort.. just no technology.. For all of my Coaching Clients... I tell them.. whenever you feel stressed or have a racing mind.. lay on the floor... taking your body horizontal will naturally downshift your nervous system....and.. just relax.. no thought.. just hang out for about 15 minutes.... this also works great when you get home from work... just take 15 minutes to "ground" yourself.. literally... it works)
Now.. I know we are in a meditation culture...but it is not the best alternative for everyone.... Just going for a walk with no tech--- 20-25 minutes can calm youdown and help you chill better than meditation for those who are really having a hard time meditating....
Again.. meditation is great for those who are open and willing and able... but for many.. especially high horsepower types... it is very hard... so do not resist.. just find the alternative!
Give this a shot this week.... pick at least one of the above... and enjoy the benefits...
I find the bath to work best before bed.. it immediately induces sleep.. so be prepared... and you will find yourself sleeping at a depth like never before!
