I have found that writing this on Friday's during the summer usually greets me with many, many out of office notices.... but, I do it anyway.
I have to.
Do you want to know why?
KPIs.
Key Performance Indicators.
For me, I have a quota (a passion quota).
That quota is a minimum of 300 Newsletters per year :) but the real quota is to coach and connect daily with my team, you guys.
Sitting down each morning to write to you keeps me connected with you, it keeps me focused, it gets me writing which is my daily practice, and most importantly, it allows me to share a message that creates movement.
It gets those who read to take action.
To more towards something they may be avoiding.
My others KPIs for a great day are:
That is it.
I shared with you what I do.
OVER. AND OVER. AND OVER AGAIN.
That is my day.
That is my life.
A great day is built around the above.
Now, there is some fun in between too- like working the farm, dining out, playing golf and being hyper-social....
But for the most part, a great week is built around the above.
That is it.
I learned this in working in Pro Sports for years- he who wins repeats.
"HE/SHE WHO WINS REPEATS"- think about that...
It does not say: "HE/SHE WHO WINS DOES SOMETHING DIFFERENT EVERYDAY"
Like I said, over and over and over again.
Now, the key it to do the above and not get bored- to stay enthusiastic after years of doing it.
Well, I have found that results and an internal peace/ calm are the rewards of executing on those KPIs- and those things are so worth it to me.
I was watching a farmer, farmer Pete, who I love to watch on Youtube last night.
He was an architect and ran a firm that kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
Up to 75+ employees.
He said the bigger he got, the more miserable he got.
It was taking him away from the work- the work he loved to do.
So, he left.
He figured out just what he needed to do to be happy.
A new vocation, how much money he needed to earn and built his farm around that model.
He started from: What do my wife and I need to be happy? How much do we need to grow and sell to earn what we need to earn? He went out and did that.
For the first time in his life he started chasing his KPIs- rather than the generality of success most are after..
I appreciated this message very much.
That is why I am passing it to you today- what do you need?
What are the KPIs that matter most to you?
Once you know them- repeat, repeat, repeat.
It is the only way.
Don't look for variety, look for what works.
Look for what makes you happy.
Look for what is best for you, your family, and build from there.
When you can do this- everyday is greeted with a plan and strategy built around your personal KPIs.
Personal KPIs.
Read that again.
Your KPIs.
Not what social media and the horrible news is telling you.
