Yesterday, I spoke to a group of High School students at my former high school- they looked miserable. Truthfully. Yawning, glancing at their phones on their desks- so I knew I had to bring it!
*I could literally feel their pain. A group of seniors with 11-days left. I mean we were all there, right?
SO, I dug in and looked at this as an opportunity to change their life...
Maybe something would land, maybe not, but it was 45-minutes to stimulate these young-ins!
I shared 3- key lessons with them-they are relevant to us all...
1. It is in times of discomfort that we grow- if you are comfortable right now, you must find your next challenge. If you are uncomfortable right now, you are right where you need to be- embrace it, work through it, and challenge your thought process as you trek forward.
2.Don't wait. Do not wait for a teacher to inspire you, a classmate to inspire you, or an influencer to inspire you. Inspire yourself. Do whatever it takes each and every day to get your energy up, your mindset to peak, and your attitude to one of "I CAN DO ANYTHING I PUT MY MIND TO"..
3. Life is nothing but a cycle of trying things, succeeding at things, and failing at things... you will bounce from one part of the cycle to the other- no state is permanent- not the good or the bad- so be ready. Be ready for whatever comes your way but realize that the wheel is always spinning- it is your job to keep it moving and spinning forward.
The lessons are simple- the application can be difficult in a World of distraction, marketing, and persuasion. It is your job to always remain strong, tough, and ready to fight for what you want.
Lastly, always believe in yourself.
There will come a time when your parents are no longer here, your friends are busy with their own lives, and you will have to face yourself.
When that moment comes- and it will- make sure you remind yourself:
I AM A CHAMPION WHO REFUSES TO LOSE, TO QUIT, OR ROLL OVER.
*the message was one of can, of hope, that you can do all things- but you can not be elite if you do what average people do. always be upgrading thoughts, mindsets, attitudes, and actions.
