Do you put a lot of pressure on yourself?
I know that at times I do....
And when I pull back the curtain of the pressure, it is most often the result of wanting to do too much, to quickly...
Oftentimes, I am actually not ready (mentally or emotionally) for what it is I am attempting, so instead of excitement and passion, the main emotion that can show up is stress...
As you know, the last 24-months, I have been working on my new book, Habits of Champion Team, due out next month.
I had 90% of the book written in 2020 and it took me almost a year to complete the last 3 chapters, the cover, the foreword, and all the other "stuff" that goes into a book, most of which readers never see.
You see, during this process, the road I really wanted to take was the "fast-lane"....
Write the book, print the book, get the book out there- do the media that goes with it, share the stories of readers, and then be onto the next one- while hopefully selling more copies than my last book, Habits of a Champion.
This is the lane that most want to take. The quick hit lane.
But, the more I dialed back and allowed the process to evolve, I found myself putting more and more passion into the book.
More and more love into the book.
More and more nuggets, stories, and gold that would help leaders, teams, and those that manage people (and themselves) be their best.
I hit the brakes, slowed down, and renegotiated my personal relationship with the book.
Which reminds me of the "other lane"- the slow lane.
This is how I was raised actually...
My father would always tell me, "Dana, there is not such thing as instant gratification. Do things the right way, all the time."
He was my first Coach.
He still tells me this.
Today, this is a hard concept to take in because we want it now, we want it fast, and anything NOW and FAST often violates my rule for happiness...
That rule is this:
What lane are you driving?
My advice is slow down.....
Put your passion into things.....
Watch what happens....
That is what this new book, Habits of a Champion Team is the result of....
Slowing down and saying: "Coach, give them your best."
I want to share it with you.
You can pre-order your signed copy today!
If you order, you will be one of the first to get this amazing field-guide on modern day leadership.
Not the fluffy, feel good leadership that sounds good on paper but has little practical relevance- but a book that gets you going, gives you tools, and helps you be your best in the real world.
That is what it is all about- being YOUR best.
So, today, take the "slow lane" and realize that is the lane that allows you to win over time.
That is the best way to win- and, it is the type of winning that is not fleeting.
