Happy Monday!
Time to attack another week.....
I hope you had a nice weekend!
For me, this was my first weekend home in about 5 weeks....
And, since I am leaving for the West Coast on Wednesday, I needed to not leave the house... resting, relaxing, and just being lazy....
Yes. You read that correctly...
Although I am on the GO most days... I always reach a point... usually every few weeks where I do nothing....
That 24hr. period is enough to recharge my body, my mind, and my spirt to go out and Chase Greatness for another few weeks...
It wasn't always this easy to figure out though... it was very complicated for me at points of my life....
Wondering,
Why am I so tired?
How come I can not be productive?
Why is my focus off?
What I realized was that I was simple out of touch with my body and what I needed to do to "program greatness" into my body and mind...
Many of us know more about our cars than our bodies...
We are religious with oil changes, tune-ups, tire rotations, etc.... but we have very little insights when it comes to our own bodies and biomarkers...
We basically go till we drop.. or till we get a head cold.... or something else that derails us...
Then, and only then do we stop for a minute to catch our breath....
Crazy, right?
People are running around totally exhausted, nutrient deficient, and flat out unhealthy... yet trying to get more performance out of their body...
Nuts.
I am going to work all day at a high level, go out for drinks after work, go out for a dinner meeting, get home around 12am, and be up at 4:30am to get ready for work...
Bad recipe....
Over time you are cooking yourself...
What if I told you that most athletes work an 8-10 hour day... but also sleep about 10 hours per night?
Mind blowing, right?
But, that is how they get high performance...
Derek Jeter, when the clock hit midnight, went home no matter what were doing.. and no matter how much fun (outside of an extra innings game)...
He got it.
He understands his body...
I encourage you to start taking a deeper dive into your own body and biochemistry....
How do you feel when you eat certain foods?
How do you feel when sleep 6hrs. vs. 10hrs...?
How do you feel when you nap 20 minutes during the day?
How do you feel when you eat a diet rich in protein and vegetables as opposed to one that is based on carbs?
Important questions...
Let's put our own health and biomarkers first this week...
It is more simple than you think...
You just have to be aware!
