Hi Team...
I hope you had a great week....
We all have good days.
We all have bad days.
But what sets up a good day and what sets up a bad day?
For me, it all revolves around "the first 120"....
The first 120 minutes of my day....
If I blow "the first 120", the rest of my day is spent feeling behind, catching up, and often heading to bed a bit pissed off that I bombed on something I should be expert level at....
That something is full ownership of the first 120.....
Which for me includes:
When I get this right, all goes right, or, the chances for excellence goes way up.....
I feel totally in the groove and when my coaching starts with clients at 11am, I am 100% ready.
Not 95% ready...
Not 90% ready...
100% ready....
What does your first 120 look like?
What do the first 120 minutes of your day look like?
Does it vary day to day?
If it does, we have a problem....
The first 120 is about consistency....
It is about repetitiveness....
It is about getting better and better at these repeat habits and dialing them in each day so they get stronger and stronger....
I developed this concept when I was in baseball- watching the best of the best and how they went about their business....
The best players would arrive at the ballpark and for "the first 120-minutes" of their day- they would be rinse, wash, repeat...
Same habits.
Same time.
Every single day.
The concept of "the first 120" is one of the most powerful....
The problem is many consistently give themselves an out...
"I have X- to do today"...
Make it after your first 120...
"I would like to do what you are saying Coach, but......"
You see, we love to make excuses and lie to ourselves about all the stuff we have to do and how busy we are- but that is all bullshit.
Let's get in the habit of speaking truth to ourselves...
These are statements of truth....
The more we get real- which most hate these days, the better our chances for success at anything we do...
Yesterday, I had an amazing sit down with Coach Tom Mullins....
Coach Mullins is an old school football coach from Florida...
He said, "Dana, everyone needs to get in the habit of running with Champions- that starts by first becoming one yourself."
I loved it.
He speaks my language.
That is what I want from you...
To be a damn Champion...
To take all those loser behaviors and thoughts and dump them someplace else...
Dump them at the "Losers Wasteland" and exchange them out for "Champion-Like" actions and behaviors....
This is a critical time of year...
The fourth quarter...
Momentum that leads to permanent changes....
I do not care how old you are or how long you have been doing something- it is time to step up and do things better....
Accept nothing less.
Trash all the excuses and let's go.
Let's finish this year strong.
That is what Champions do...
They gain momentum and speed as they get closer to the finish line.
Now, let's go out and own our first 120 today, tomorrow, and every damn day after that!
And, if you want to take your game to the next level even faster, pre-order your signed copy of my new book, Habits of a Champion Team- you will not be disappointed!
Your Coach,
COACH DANA CAVALEA
