Hi Team...

Happy Monday... 

I hope you had a great weekend of rest and recovery... 

As we know, without rest and recovery, there is no forward progress...

Which reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by the legendary Vince Lombardi: 

"Fatigue will make cowards of us all.."

Yesterday, I was on a walk talking to one of my amazing clients, James...

I shared this quote with him as it is a true saving grace for those who can find themselves pushing, striding, and over-achieving... 

Why this quote is a great reminder is because it is truly a reminder to do less....

But, the things you do engage in- You Go For Gold.

"Coach, how do I do this? How do I simplify and not try to do too much?"

Simple.

Let me tell you what I do....

I use index cards...

One Large...

One Small..

  • The large card has my intentions for the week...
  • The "what I want to get done" for the week...

Then, I work at my pace to attack this list and by Friday, it is always done.

Now, if there is an occasional item I did not get to, it shifts to next weeks list!

As for the small card, each morning that card is meant to write down:

What I need to get done today (that one major thing- not the little things)

That is setting your intention for the day!

What this exercise does is it keeps it all in front of us...

And, it gives us permission to be done for the day...

Yes- to be done!

To do something else...

Got it?

There is a lot of talk about intentions.. the biggest issue is that fatigue can hijack our greatest of intentions- both planned intentions and unplanned intentions.

So, if we are going to win over the long haul, we must manage our energy...

And we do that by keeping our MIT's or MIA's right in front of us...

For reference, those are your MOST IMPORTANT THINGS... and your MOST IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES..

Those are the only ones that matter...

Get in the habit of using cards...

They work..

And, they are simple.

No need for the high-end life management journal..

Index cards.

Use them.

Cut the crap of getting distracted, doubting yourself, over-thinking, and burning yourself out!...
