Hi Team...

This past week I have been working with a sales team and we have been speaking about "how to present"....

My message was simple: Learn to communicate like instagram.....

We are conditioned to scroll and swipe and not sit with things too long anymore.

Today, people are not as open as years ago to sit and talk about the same thing for 1hr. + so we must get to the point faster.

And, as we work to get to the point, there are a few keys to optimal communication that we need to focus on...

The first is: TRANSITIONS.

The more transitions the better.

This does not mean we are changing the theme of our conversation, but we are changing to slide. We are changing the "set".

For example, let's say you are presenting, do not stay on the same slide for more than 180 seconds....

Be like instagram, keep them moving through.

As you transition, you will keep pulling them along with you.

If you are engaging, they will be excited to come with you.

Next, use tonality, pauses, and transitions in unison to keep engagement. 

Lastly, when communicating, put yourself last.

For many, the natural desire is to put self first- but when you communicate, stay centered around the other person, their wants, desires, interests, and deliver to them in a way that is like candy to their ears. (And today, with zoom, their eyes)...

Coach, how do I do that?

Yesterday, I took out my handheld white board and drew a big, RED smile.

The champion that I was coaching immediately smiled.

When I asked what happened, he said that smile made me smile.

Got it?

It is as simple as that.

Just simply thinking of a smile and thinking of the word smile may actually loosen you up right now! 

Are you smiling right now?

You see, communication is in fact a tool that needs strengthening.

The issue for many is that they have been communicating the same way for years and are unable or unwilling to change their style because they simply are not open to change or practice!

Well, today I am letting you know what you can practice.

  • Practice cadence.
  • Practice transitions.
  • Communicate the point you are trying to make faster.
  • Be upfront.
  • Do not make people wait for an answer.
  • Make it about them.
  • Finally, be the answer/ solution to their problem.

If you can do ALL of that, you will be an amazing asset to those you communicate with and you will create what I call magnetism.

They will want to come back for more.

You will draw them in like a magnet.

Lastly, make this one commitment....

ANYBODY that comes across you and that you have the opportunity to communicate with make sure they leave feeling energized, empowered, and feeling amazing about themselves.

Deliver that gold to them through all of the above.

Life is a transfer of energy.

If your energy sucks, that is what you will transfer. 

But, since your energy is champion-like, be excited to transfer that!
