Hey Team-
Well it was a great night on the track last night...
This summer I committed to running at least 3 days per week...
Running is not something "I love to do"... but... I love the way I feel when I am DONE!
I call this running project: WORKING FOR DONE....
Done is what I love about it...
I hate the process.. but love the results...
Last night I changed things though...
Rather than running for a duration or certain distance...
I took it to another level doing TIMED QUARTER MILES...
Meaning.. anybody can run a lap around the track at their own pace....
But...when you take out a stopwatch and do it... the game changes!
Especially for the Type A, Competitor....
Last night, just doing 1 quarter mile at a time for a total of 1-mile...
I worked harder than the days when I run for 25 minutes straight...
My first lap was about 2 minutes and 30 seconds... I dogged it.
Just by paying attention and racing the clock... I shaved over 40 seconds from my first "faking it" pace...
What I realized was... "What if we put this timer theory to all that we do?"
How many things do we do but just go through the motions at a 2:30 pace... when we are really capable of 1:52...
The more I ran, the better I got...
I was not allowing myself to lose...
Just remember this..if you float through life... you will lose...
Your numbers will "suck" much like mine did....
I was not competing to the best of my ability....
Are you competing to the best of your ability?
I hope you are... but if you are not... get out your timer and start getting locked in...
Challenge yourself to do things you have not done before..
Expect more of yourself...
When I would train my Yankee players... they too would dog it... until we took out the timer... than the competitive nature of winners started to showcase itself...
Now you can do the same!
