Hi Team...

Happy Monday! Ready for another great week?

Well, I think you are. Now, you have to believe you are!

I want to share a quote with you:

"Encouragement Should Be The Goal of Our Speech"

Think about it.

Think about your current dialogue to yourself and those you lead....

What do you hear in your head?

What do you hear coming out of your mouth?

I have found for many, myself included, when we get busy we lose awareness..

We lose the awareness of what we are saying to others and telling ourselves...

The results?

Dangerous.

Why?

Well, what if we are responsible for contaminating and polluting our mind with CAN'T-DO Thoughts rather than CAN-DO Thoughts?

It can happen easily because the mind works in loops and patterns....

So, we must be careful what we are feeding the mind....

I want to share with you a natural pattern of thought that I have... ready?

I have to  ______________________. (Workout More, Eat X, Get More Done, Hire a Better Team, Hit My Goals, la, la, la)

Not negative.

But, innately based on a thought process that is scarcity based...not abundance based...

What do I mean?

I am innately telling myself all that I have to do...not giving credit for all that I do...

So, my mind begins to believe that narrative that I am not doing enough...

And so the story goes....

What do you tell yourself?

What defines your loop?

You see, once you understand it, you can cure it...

I know that in order to prevent my natural loop, I must self-coach myself using words of encouragement... reminding myself of the things I do well, the things I do get done, and, the impact I make via my work....

This combats the negative loop in exchange for a more favorable one....

Now, I also wanted to remind you that your words can cause the loop of another person to turn negative....

As Leaders of teams, workforces, families, and children- you must choose your words wisely...

This does not mean to enable and baby your people...

Absolutely not...

It means, deliver a message that is strong, bold, and encouraging...

One that makes that person want to take strong, bold, action.....

We can have a much more powerful impact on others through positive, powerful language than we can by telling people how they are failing...

Now, I also say it is based on a ratio... 3:1...

3: Encouraging Words...

1: Challenging Words...

If all we do is fluff a personas pillow- they will think that is the only gear you have ..

We also need our words to be constructive... so challenging words are meant to ignite that fire within somebody... and get them to take sharp action as a result of the challenging words you give them...

  • I know you can be better at _______________.
  • You have incredible talent, I just need you to use that talent to _____________.
  • I think you are capable of being the best on this team if you _____________.

These are challenge statements using challenging words.

  • You can really take this team to the next level with your energy and enthusiasm.
  • You have a natural ability to lead.
  • You do a great job of balancing work and family.

These are all encouraging statements using words of encouragement.

See how this works?

Can you see how this could change somebodies behavior?

This is a super powerful strategy.

Put it into play immediately!!

Let's GO!
