Have you ever felt stuck?
Maybe just a bit jammed up in how you think?
Or, maybe you are getting the same results over and over again?
Just feeling "not peak" and maybe even "not excited"....
Have you been in that place?
Well, I will tell you this: It is common but not permanent.
**Unless you keep doing the same things, the same way, over and over and over again.
The reason most people feel stuck is because of their approach.
They have been doing the same thing(s), the same way, for so long that life is so routine it is stale.
This is my biggest issue with routines and habits and high performers.
They get so dialed in- that years can go by without picking their heads up from battle.
As a result, they get very accustomed to the way in which they think and the way they do things...
The only issue is: That way worked then, but may not be working now because YOU are not the same person.
Using an old operating system on a different person is not a great idea.
Think about the old Iphone- What if the first Operating System was used on the Iphone 11 or 12? There would be a poor outcome.
A slow outcome. Just a poor user experience.
Well here is the deal folks- some of you may be still using a dial up connection when wifi is available...
So what do we do Coach?
The fastest way to overcome a feeling of stuck and stale is to:
*Focus on what you are doing well....(and what your team and company are doing well)...
This is where re-programming starts.
Stale, stuck minds only see problems.
They only see what is wrong and not working.
At the start of each day I want you to speak to yourself the 3-things that are going really well....
And, at the end of the day, speak to yourself the 3-things that you and the team did well today....
If you can- I would prefer that you both speak them and write them by keeping a little notebook in your car.
This is a simple yet powerful exercise because it centers the mind of focuses the mind on what is going well, not wrong.
I do an exercise with clients and ask them to tell me 10 problems they have right now...
They recite these within seconds!
Then, I ask for 3-5 things that are going really well.... (Crickets)...
You see, high performers are fixers...
Always trying to fix... and problems allow them to do that...
The issue is when all you do is look for problems- you often find them (or, if you do not find them, you create them).
So, by focusing on what is going right, you are rewiring your brain and also your biochemistry to match allowing you to feel good- rather than depleted from solving problems over the last 10, 20, 30+ years.
Problems will always be there- they are a part of the game.
They do not all need to be solved by you and they most certainly should not be given all of that "emotional" power you give them..
Remember: You decide what you give life to.
A problem is simply that.
It becomes a monster that can take over your mind, body, and soul if you let it.
Stay focused on "what is going right" and faith will build over time and you will be out of your rut in a few weeks....
Oh yeah... and give also....
Give to a cause and most importantly make the commitment to make those around you feel good by giving compliments or noticing the good in them.
Watching how others light up is a whole lot of fun... because chances are they are focused on their problems too :)
