Great Leaders VS. Bad Leaders.....

Hi Team...

Well, this was an eventful farm weekend......

We had a new addition to the farm this week: The Pigs....

We brought on 4-pregnant sows and 1-boar.....

They are a lot of fun.... and filled with energy.... but I have something that I wanted to share today about them (And you)...

We picked them up and they are about 100-150lbs. short of the weight they should be at...

Why?

Because the owner of these pigs was more concerned with profit- and, keeping their feed expenses as low as possible...

So, what does this result in?

Well, the bred pigs would only put out about 8 piglets, instead of 12-15...that is 5-7 less piglets, per pig, 2x per year... which is 20-28 less per year when you have sows that are bred....

Now, I am not here to give you farmers math... but, I am here to talk leadership and give you a direct application to your life...

When you are more focused on profit, over quality, there is always a cost in the end.

Great leaders know this.

They know how important it is to do whatever it takes to create the happiest, most productive group of people (team) that they can because the profits and end result will be there.....

Great leaders know that it is their job to create these standards and culture by being all-in and totally obsessed with the desired outcome- but getting there by creating the best work environment, bringing on the best team members, communicating clearly but with authority, and by showing up each day excited.

This weekend I was coaching a CEO who was a little bit worried about his results...

I told him this: "In times of worry- get excited."

You see, worry and excitement can not coexist.

One erases the other- so pick the right one to focus on and your energy, actions, thoughts, and behaviors will soon align- and you will create the outcome you desire as a result.

A worried leader creates a worried team.

A cheap and scarcity driven leader creates a fearful team.

A weak leader gets pushed around by their team.

A fearful leader micromanages their team.

When a leader decides to step-up, stand-tall, and dive all-in- everyone wins and that takes tremendous courage today to not fall for cultural and societal pressures on how to lead and lead well.

Remember this:

A strong leader strengthens his/ her team....

A bold leader lifts their team....

A convicted leader instills confidence in their team....

A passionate leader fills their team with passion and excitement...

A courageous leader lets their team know: It will all work out (and work out in our favor)....

The contrasting of the above leaders is a classic illustration of Great Leadership vs. Bad Leadership....

There is much talk today about leadership- but very few people talk about the GUTS a leader must exude to resist the temptation to lead like everyone else, to do what everyone else does, and to be less focused on the next HR violation and more focused on building greatness.
