Hi Team!

So, yesterday I was at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches, watching the Marlins compete against the Astros in a Spring Training game...

I always enjoy Spring Training because it is so much about work, development, working on weaknesses, and getting ready for the upcoming season...

For years, I wondered why Companies don't have a Spring Training, 6-weeks of locking down the fundamentals, reinforcement of the mission, vision, and goals- as well as spending a set period developing their talent....

I do not mean sprinkling in development- I mean actually putting their people through a Spring Training (alongside their work of course) to help peak their energy, their poise, and their excitement for what it is they get to do each day...

This can seem a bit Pollyanna to some, but for those that are looking to elevate- it can really change the game....

It is amazing how many people do not understand how their own minds work... how they work within a particular setting, and, how poor many can be at self-evaluating their performance....

Yesterday, as I was watching each player, it was easy to see those who were focused, secure, guaranteed a spot on the team, and those who were "fighting" for a spot and working to find their confidence...

WE are all like this in some ways... when we know we have something, say a spot on the team, we can settle in and execute with a lot less doubt....

But, at the same time, that little bit of doubt for some can totally wipe them out, and for others, it keeps them hungry... it is that little bit of the unknown that keeps them striving for more....

I find that it is what we are after, often times security & safety, that brings out our worse self....

Our lazy self...

Our complacent self...

But it is that perfect ratio of security: unknown that makes us better...

A few weeks ago I was speaking with a group of CEOs, and we discussed FEAR.

Not FEAR as a negative, but rather how we can use that FEAR that somebody may be catching up to us, or working to take our spot to power us forward...

To move us towards our best self...

To charge us with energy and positive emotion to start creating a larger gap between us and our competition, while at the same time allowing us to get better each day through preparation, scouting, and finding the best practices available..

Take some time today and think about where you are letting FEAR hold you back... and take some time after that to think about how you can reframe this FEAR, and turn it into actual work that can advance you forward towards your goals....

Start seeing FEAR = FRIEND instead of FEAR = FOE....

When you can change your viewpoint and use it as a catalyst for Max Growth..

YOU WIN.

Let's GO!
