Hey Team!

I was recording a podcast yesterday centered around the word "control"..

It really got me thinking..

How many of us are trying to over-control and over-navigate things in life?

We are in a culture now that focuses heavily on excessive "start to finish" planning method and clearly identifying goals/ objectives at all times..

Fundamentally, this totally makes sense...

But practically, does it?

How many of us have set goals and have failed?

I know I have.

Maybe we eventually achieve them, but not on our timeline or on our terms....

How many of us had a project we were engaged in, were extremely focused, but either lost our passion or just didn't hit our marks?

It has happened to all of us...

During the episode, I discussed my personal experience with the negative effects of goal setting and the let down that followed..

My goals were too ambitious, and when I didn't hit them, I felt like I lost... even though I won in a lot of ways...

Can you relate?

In the "win the world" culture we live in today, do we even give ourselves freedom to explore new things any more?

I mean how many of us have the same goals and career ambitions at 40 that we had at 20?

How about at 60?

Do you find yourself doing things because that is what you have always done? That is what you are "good" at... not passionate about.. but "good" and "comfortable" with?

Why not give yourself a chance to explore and see what taking a shot at your passion would be like?

Think about how much freedom and living is on the other side of that...

That is liberating...that is healthy for your mind...

I feel many people today are "stuck" because they are afraid to explore...most importantly they are afraid to explore themselves..

They have had dreams since they were kids... that went un-pursued.

Scary.

Waste of potential talent and contribution...

As we start to head into Spring, and we get to witness "blooming" and the renewal of life around us...

Why don't you think about how you can start to bloom?

Now, I know this blog has a little bit of a softer tone than usual, but I wanted to encourage exploration... which will lead you to what you are supposed to be doing..

Don't stress, just explore...

Explore without commitment and without a plan.

You just may bump into something amazing...

Once you find that passion and spark again.. then you can go all in.... working hard, planning, pivoting, and enjoying your experience...

Now my podcast quality is not the best on this one since I was playing around with a new microphone... but I hope you can still enjoy the message.

Have an awesome day!
