Hi Team..

I am always excited when I get emails from friends...

Yesterday, I got a great email from a wonderful friend, who I get to work with every so often.. Mr. Jack Napoli.. also known as Uncle Jack....

In my message yesterday, I wrote about staying in your lane so that you can be in the ultimate position of strength....

Yet, many want to diversify quickly...

Or, move away from their strength...

What are you nuts?

What is so seductive about being in a position of weakness...

Then I figured it out..

Most high performers like a challenge...

What comes easy often loses their interest- so they seek the next challenge even if that means moving away from what they are great at...

Most entrepreneurs want to capture every opportunity- so they move from one to the other, hoping one hits, yet, they do not stay focused on any one long enough oftentimes for one to hit...

This is where diversification becomes a problem...

Moving away from your core skills and abilities in favor of diversifying makes you worse... (most times)...

This is where diversification leads to DE-WORSE-IFICATION.

In the words of Uncle Jack- this makes you worse at what you are good at because you are diluting your own skills and abilities..

Two days ago I was coaching an executive who was thinking about his next move and how he can make the greatest impact on the company...

I asked, "What are you the best at? So good that nobody else can do what you do?"

It took him a few minutes...

I followed up by saying, "That is your 90%- 90% of your time, efforts, and energy should be built around that- and, you should manage your team so they do not infringe on that 90%, ever."

Another Jack-ism...

If we focus on going inch by inch it is a cinch...

If we go yard by yard it is hard...

Do not get too far ahead of yourself..

Do not get too far in front...

Attack today, win today.

In 1996 the New York Yankees had a player from the Dominican Republic named Mariano Duncan... he was famous for saying, "We Play Today, We Win Today, Thats It."

He knew that tomorrow did not matter, only today does.

So if we are going to be great, we must win today.

The same is true for you!

Thanks for the assist today Uncle Jack- I hope to see you soon at Central!

Let's go win today!

Thats it!

Hi Coach,
You got my pass and scored!
You are a machine I really liked your “pivot” from – stay in your lane to Di-Worseffy to Inch by inch to 90% should never get infringed on.
It’s all about reminding us how Champions connect the dots.
Great Coaching – No need to reply. I’m going to be with Anthony and the Central Team next week, I’ll tell them you said hi.
