Hi Team...

Yesterday was a really busy day for me....

This time of year, well, Coaches have to step up and that is what I am doing.....

So, for many Leaders out there, I have been asked to speak with their teams (both in sports and business), their Leadership, and discuss with them how to handle the current situation. 

Much of that discussion is about "how they should handle their people"... and what they can and should expect from their people upon return.

I make it really simple:

  • The people coming back to work are not the same people that left on that last day.....
  • Many of your people have experienced hardship themselves, or, possibly a family member has...
  • There is a very good chance they will be EXCITED to get back to work... since they have been at home for several weeks...
  • This is a GREAT time to do something exciting for your people to keep them poised...
  • You must think about that 1st Day Back and the Meeting/ Words you will have with your people....
  • If you have the opportunity, use this time to recharge and relaunch yourself as a Leader....

Simple, right?

I want these folks I work with to be ready to jump in the trenches with their people...

Embrace them like never before... (even if it is a challenge)....

Dig in. Spar with them. 

Let them know you care... 

And that starts now. 

Not Day 1- back in the office.

I can not tell you how many Leaders have not reached out to their people yet. That is NOT good.

Forget the next deal for a minute... put that on hold.

Get in touch with your people.

That is what Champion Leaders do.

They put their "stuff" aside and go all-in on making their people feel comfortable, secure, and safe right now.

One of the Leaders I spoke with yesterday runs a large international sales team...

We talked about what her people need most right now?

I told her: CONFIDENCE.

They need you to instill confidence in them so they know everything will be OK..

That is what your team wants. They want to know that they and their family will be OK during this time, and after this time. 

I also spoke to her about the CONFIDENCE GAP that can throw her people off.

The confidence gap is simple the space between where your people are now (and how they see things) and where they want to go (or, what they think may happen)....

That GAP can be dangerous.

As a Leader, think about this gap at all times.....and do your best to help your people close it.

Got it!

Well, looks like we have some work to do don't we!
