Hey Team-
Hope you had a great weekend filled with activity, fun, and some rest!
Lately, my weekends have been pretty relaxed.. taking advantage of the colder climate and "resting".. something as a Type-A chaser I do not do very much with my own permission...
I had to teach myself... and am still teaching myself that always running around can sometimes get you places that you want to go... but there is always a cost...
So.. I manage myself better now...
How?
Not taking meetings after 6pm.....
Being home for dinner....
Not speaking more than 3x/ week...
Giving myself 60-75 minutes to workout rather than drag it out all morning...
Really, just optimizing myself through my mindset, my schedule, and my habits....
You see, when I was traveling with the Yankees.. my schedule was so out of balance that I really hurt myself.. meaning.. I was always in a Fight/ Flight response.. and as a result.. I was dealing with some chronic fatigue.. had trouble sleeping... and it put me in a perpetual cycle of not sleeping, having to push myself physically, and then dealing with "chronic fatigue"...
The reality is.. I was so out of balance.. that it has taken me about 4 years to get myself back... and I did that through consistency...
Consistency of meals..
Consistency of bed time..
Consistency of work...
Consistency of rest..
Now I know it sounds a bit rigid.. but that is what I had to do to get myself back into a more healthy place...
Which leads me to today's lesson: Change is Happening, Growth is Optional...
I had felt my body and mind changing for the worst from being ON 24-7.. being available for my players all the time... and trying to manage a business while I had a very competitive job...
I was changing for the worst....
But, as a result of that change (and some pain)... I decided to GROW.
I had to grow. I had to embrace change and grow through new habits, distinctions, associations, and decisions...
How many of you today know that something you are doing is not the right thing for you.. but you continue to do it anyway?
Can you relate to that?
If you can.. it is normal... but start immediately making SMALL changes...
No need for a drastic move..
Just make 1-Change per week over the next 6 weeks.. and you will have made quite a bit of change in a relatively short period of time...
I see it with my Coaching Clients all the time...
We make one change... they feel good.
We make another change... they feel even better...
We make another change... they feel like they are winning again...
Simple progression. Baby steps. But that is how you make lasting change and grow. That is what it is about.
LASTING CHANGE & GROWTH.
Like I always say... a 10-day cleanse, detox, restriction plan for rapid change makes total sense when we are being sold and pitched on it...
BUT...
They never work to create lasting change and growth...
That is what this community and team is about...
Results.
Results that are lasting....
So, as we head into this new week....
Ask the question: What change can I make starting TODAY that will make an impact on my life that will last and lead to growth?
Let's have a great week!
