Hey Team...
Hope you guys are rolling this week!
It is about that time where the Holiday Emergency Brake is getting ready to be pulled... aka the ultimate excuse to check-out in December...
(which I totally get.. and if you planned for that... it is ok to slow up on your business and get focused on YOU... but if you haven't planned for the slow down.. well.. put your nose down and grind!)..
But this reminds me of a common theme I have been coming across this week with my coaching clients...
Business First.
Family Second.
Self.... Last.
Now.. one would think this person is being selfish right?
But how could they be if they are putting themselves last?
Let me tell you... they are. Very selfish.
Could you imagine allowing your body and mind to decay and weaken because you are not "engaging" them and flooding them with health?
How could you not make YOU your priority?
I mean honestly..
I hear this over and over again...
Just about every business audience I speak with these days... they get up and think immediately about work... and then.. they may think of themselves later down the line...
Usually when their energy is shot... they are tired all the time... they gained 15-20lbs.. and are in really poor condition..
Then.. the bulb goes off...
That is where I step in...
I call this TYPE-A PROFESSIONALS SYNDROME...
They work so hard for so many years trying to prove their worth to them and others...
They work so hard to build financial security and workplace stature....
That they ultimately achieve most of what they want... but are left totally cooked..
Tight. Pain Filled. Fat. Poor Posture. Broken.
Sad.
How could our jobs do this to us?
Simple.
You were not in the 1st Position...
You see.. when you are a kid... you are so in the moment that you own the first position...
Then.. we often see what others have and we get motivated by "things".. and realize the only way to get those things is via work....(which is good)...
But.. it becomes a major problem when the things start to own us.. and the process (work) of achieving those things starts to own our entire existence...
That is dangerous...
Risky...
And... The Fastest Way to Die....
Step 1: Get Moving Early in the AM (start just by stretching.. gradually do more from that point... but flexibility and tissue health and mobility are key to overall health and movement)
Step 2: Be Really Clear About What WINNING Means to YOU (define it clearly).
-How much do you really need to be financially secure?
-How much do you really need to make each month to do what you want?
-How much time are you willing to put in each week to achieve this?
Step 3: Schedule Family Time....
Because the tendency is to always put work first... you must schedule your family time during the week... over time this will become a HABIT.. but early on you must work through the head winds...
Step 4: Schedule Your Work Time...
Don't just Go To Work.. Go to work with a plan and an agenda for the day... Have clear objectives and power-plays that you set the night before... that will ensure you stay on pace and don't waste time...
When you get to work, hit the ground running.. when you complete you needle-moving activities for the day.. come up for air and leave... don't sit around gossiping, chatting, and wasting your time.. it is precious..
We often times waste so much time that we feel we don't have any of it..
But we do..
We have plenty...
Use it wisely..
So... put yourself 1st...
I promise you will feel much lighter..
Your relationships will improve..
Your health will improve...
Your finances will improve...
Your life will improve...
Now get to work.
