Hi Team....

Sorry I missed everyone yesterday- but, I had an early morning of coaching a team of rockstars that are our neighbors to the North in Canada!

We had a whole lot of fun and it was my job to make sure they go out and WIN the second half of the year....

Now, if you read that above statement, you will see a two letter word that snuck in there.

It starts with an M and ends in a Y.

MY.

That is a big task and a huge amount of responsibility to take on as an individual.

To make yourself fully responsible for team success- actually it is crazy.

I wrote this strategically though because how often to we try to do everything alone when we have some amazing teammates and people that can help us!

Have you ever sat with a task for weeks, months, and sometimes years and keep pushing it to the next week?

I know that I have.

And the reason is this: Doing that thing is not in your 10% skill set. 

Meaning, when you size up the 10% of things you are amazing at- IT, that thing is not one of them.

That is totally ok.

But, like I told the team yesterday, it is your JOB to find the (+) to your (-) .

We all have - (minus) skills.

Skills that are just not our top 10% and we always find ourselves tasking ourselves with the 90%.

Do your realize how much of a productivity killer that is?

How often do we make our own flyer or graphics when we can delegate to somebody who has flyer making and graphic design of presentations as their top 10% of skills?

Or, for those who have tried to make websites by themselves.

Is that your top 10% skill? 

Probably not.

Each time you take on a skill that is not your top 10%- YOU suffer because of the high levels of friction it causes.

Now, if you desire to learn a new skill for enjoyment purposes then I get it.

But, oftentimes this is not the case.

And because it is not the case- we spend too much time dicking around and wasting time "figuring things out" when we can easily pass it.

One of my favorite lines is from the movie Steve Jobs.

Apples co-founder, Steve Wozniak asked Steve Jobs, "What is it that you even do anyway?" to which Steve Jobs answers, "I am the conductor of the orchestra." 

Well, it is time for you to start conducting your orchestra!

My goal for you is this:

** Find that thing or things you have been spending too much time on and start building your team of 10%'s ers.

Find people around you who's 10% is that of which you are seeking to get done what you have been delaying.

I am in on this too.

For over a year I have been looking to launch an online Academy, Champions Academy.

A digital learning platform that includes LIVE and library-based courses and training programs.

Now, tech is not my thing.

So, tomorrow I have a call in the AM with somebody who is a friend and who specializes in online tech and tech platforms!

That is his 10%, not mine.

What if you approached your whole life like this?

This is what the top 10% of performers/ earners actually do.

They use teams better than anybody else.

They have people who do this and people who do that so they can stay focused on the things that matter most- their 10%.

But Coach- this can cost a fortune!

Not true.

There are more freelancing sites now than ever, more per hour or task works then ever, and do not forget those who are already on your team that would feel so EMPOWERED to help you by letting them activate their 10%.

This is a management skill and tool that will not only free you up, but will truly make others on your team feel amazing because they get to do what they do well.

Last example.

Yesterday, I had to ship a car 350 miles.

I did not have time to drive 350 miles one way, pick up the car, then drive back.

700 miles was not in my cards, or, my desired 10%.

So, I hired somebody for $300 to do it.

He did all the work.

Then, he was paid for his work.

This is what HE does- he ships cars and gets them safely to their destination.

That is his 10%.

It saved me time- and was well worth the money and I was able to cross it off my list.

That is how this works.

It is all about productivity because never forget: YOU GET PAID FOR DONE.

Not what you talk about doing, but what it is you actually get DONE!

Got it?

Ok- one more example, I lied.

A few weeks ago, one of my executive clients had been coming up with reasons WHY he was unable to get his workouts in for a few months. 

He said that it was because of this new business he was taking over.

Well, the excuses were hurting him because he was trying to use will power to start his routine. It was never going to work.

So, I found him a trainer that now comes to the house 3x per week. Now he is on track and has done more workouts in two weeks than the last two years.

We found somebody to bring their 10% to help him get better and now he does not even have to think about it.

I want the same for you.
