Hi Team..
You know, I have been doing some heavy thinking over the last few days...
I feel like something I am seeing far to often is a lack of professionalism in the marketplace today.....
Hear me out.
I believe, the person that we all appreciate being around is the person that is most consistent....
Their word is oak.
If they say they will be there- they are there.
If they say they are going to get something done- they get it done.
If they commit to something- they are all in.
This person has extreme power.
People tend to gravitate towards this type of person- and, they want this type of person in their corner, or on their team.
I believe that if we can, as teams, and as individuals focus on being better professionals..
Becoming the person that is listed above....
Holding others accountable to becoming the person above....
The above (state of power) is based on strong values, strong character, and appropriate standards....
But how many of us working on our values, character, and standards today?Well- this is of critical importance for you to focus on.
As we all feel the pressure of the World, it is important to create a list that is titled: WHAT I STAND FOR...
This is a list that lists exactly that: what you stand for.
You must write it down... write down the character traits, values, and standards/ expectations that you hold yourself too.
Let me give you an example...
Two weeks ago, I had somebody ask me to put together a proposal for them...
They asked me for the proposal and to make it specific to their company and needs...
So, this got done within 90-minutes...
It was sent, followed by an email to make sure it was received...
Then, radio silence.
Nothing.
No email. No call. No response.
Now, remember, this was after their request... not mine.
When I immediately take a look at my list of character traits, values, standards & expectations, what do I see?
This is just a partial list that is relevant to the situation above- as a result, I decided to no longer engage, pursue, or be a part of such an operation/ company/ relationship....
Not a good fit.
How many times do you try to make things work by giving up on what you know is right?
Just to make the deal work.
Well- that is not how it works.
When you end up going against yourself, against your companies values, and force a deal or relationship- it always has consequences...
Think about forcing a marriage... never works.
When you know what you stand for- you always win.
Let's go.
