Hi Team...
Last week I did a Coaching session with my good friend, Uncle Jack....
We were both doing a coaching session/ facilitation for an amazing company.. and Uncle Jack brought some "elderly wisdom" (don't kill me for saying that Uncle Jack)......
What I love about Uncle Jack is his energy...
His positiivity...
And his passion for what he does.....
The triple threat.. energy, positivity, and passion!
The only thing I am a little bit suspect of is that he is from Boston....
You know, us New York Guys and Boston Guys tend to have a few places that we do not align... the most notable being the baseball field! (aka, Fenway Park)...
But, with that said, I always learn something from Uncle Jack...
And last week- he talked about having Ants In Your Head....
Not the kind of ants that take over a good summer picnic...
Or the kind that drive you crazy as you seek to find where they are coming from in your home...
But, the ANTS that keep pestering you in your head...
AUTOMATIC
NEGATIVE
THOUGHT'
S
Yup....
Those thoughts that are often on repeat when you get into a situation..
Often the same situation.....
The thoughts that are associated with:
You see- ANTS 🐜 are everywhere!
And, just like a picnic or a home infestation/ invasion of ANTS- we must kill them at the source...
When you lack self-esteem, either situationally or chronically, the ANTS will take over....
When you lack self-confidence, either situationally or chronically, the ANTS will take over....
When you lack self-belief, either situationally or chronically, the ANTS will take over....
That is how it works...
Now, I have two questions for you...
#1: Do you have ANTS in your life?
#2: Do you ever take time each day to work on your self-esteem, self-confidence, or self-belief?
Or, do you just go into your day and hope it is a good one...
Hope it is better than yesterday?
Well, I want to tell you this...
Hope is great.. but I would rather bet on somebody that MAKES IT HAPPEN everyday...
That is a person that does not wait...
They are on the offense...
They are on the attack...
They approach each day like a Champion...
So, starting today, take a few moments and right down your TOP 3 Situations that you have doubt about... fear about... hesitation about... or just lack confidence in...
That is what I want you to do...
That is the first step to killing the 🐜 ANT Farm..
Let's GO!
And, let's all thank UNCLE JACK for the great lesson on ANTS.

Hi Dana,
Thanks for the props, the great post and working with you last week.
The ANTs are real.
If you use them right though they help you prepare for “battle”.
We have to learn from them, as they may warn us of potential danger, then keep them out of way.
Don’t let them ruin your “picnic”.
Some of the best ways I’ve learned to control them are found in the pages of your book The Habits of a Champion.
In the words of Mariano Rivera:
1. Slow things down
2. Quite the noise
3. Throw one “pitch” at a time.
When we do that and combine it with your advice of focusing on our:
IPA’s – Income Producing Activities and our
MVA’s – Most Valuable Activities we’ll keep out the internal ANTs or “energy vampires” so we eliminate the EDA’s Energy Draining Activities that the ANTs want to feed on.
No matter what obstacles we face real or imagine we have to keep moving forward.
Focus on excellence and not perfection.
I think you were right a Red Sox fan and Yankee fan can not only get along they can learn from each other.
Win the day.
Thanks Dana.
