Hi Team...
I wanted to share a story with you about Wally & Willy......
Wally "The Wood-Cutter" was asked to cut down a forest of trees....
He brought his axe and started chopping away....
He would hit one tree, 10-20x, then he would move to the next tree...
He would then hit that tree 10-20x.....
After a few weeks, he had hit almost every tree in the forest....
But, there was still a vast forest....
He then went back to the first tree and took another 10-20 swings.... and repeated his pattern.
A few months later, all the trees were still standing but all were about 15% chopped.
Since the job was not getting done, the town had called in Willy "The Wood-Cutter" to give him a shot at the same job.
He had a much different approach.
Willy sharpened his axe.
Willy brought in his most skilled assistant.
Together, they each focused on 1-tree at a time.
They chopped until the tree fell.
Then, they moved to the next tree.
In the first month, they had knocked down hundreds of trees.
Within three months, the entire forest was chopped down and the village was so proud of these two men.
They were paid a small fortune for their work....
Wally was still wondering what had happened and why he had failed.
So, he called up Willy and asked if he could ask them how they did it...
"Hi Willy, it's Wally. How did you guys chop down that whole forest in the same amount of time it took me to chop each tree only 15%?"
"Well Wally, it is simple. Instead of trying to do everything, focus on one thing. Complete the task, then move on.
You see, most people start things and never finish. Most people never see anything through to the end.
As a result, they have many open projects and none are complete.
We named our company: ONE AT A TIME TREE CUTTING. Because we focus on one tree at a time, we are very effective, efficient, and productive. And, we get it done.
The other thing I do is never work alone. I always bring my best assistant, partner, and friend, William. You can not do things alone. You must always have a good team- even if that is a team of just one trusted assistant.
We have cut down more trees per month than any other company in the area. And, by the way, all we do is cut trees. Other people trim branches, grind stumps, etc. WE just cut trees. That is it. We are the best at just cutting trees."
What did you take away?
In your life, do you just cut trees?
Are you the best tree cutter in town?
Or, are you trying to do everything at once?
Lot's of projects- but nothing gets done?
If you are like most, you have too many open projects.
"Coach, how can I get focused?"
Usually, the person that has too much going on is also the person that has to go back to the simple things- and get conditioned in completing the simple tasks like:
These simple things will always keep you focused on completion and never getting comfortable in letting things stack up.
Never forget the story of Wally and Willy.
It is a simple tale I wrote to keep you focused on doing one thing at a time and working to completion.
Win the day.
Let's GO!
Your Coach,
COACH DANA CAVALEA

The woodcutter’s story brings back memories of a time when I tackled a big project in our backyard, inspired by the same determination. My family and I built a swing, which became a cherished part of our outdoor space.
