Hi Team...

Yesterday, around the middle of the day I decided to make a post on LinkedIn.

That is great Coach- what is your point?

A lot of people post on LinkedIn.

That is true.

But for me, I usually only post in the early AM and I usually post something motivational.

Yesterday though- well, I was a bit chapped.

I can not tell you how many times over the last few weeks I have had people not call back, not do what they said they were going to do, and really just suck at being a good person, business person, and somebody who is........RELIABLE.

Very hard to find.

I have been finding it more and more in business.

From the store you enter where nobody is there to greet you on the way in.... or, wish you a good day on the way out.....

To the restaurant that has service times slower than the Long Island Railroad.

To individuals who commit to meetings or phone calls and blow them off like it "completely" slipped their mind.


This is unacceptable behavior.

AND, that LinkedIn post I was telling you about is headed towards being my best ever....

Meaning, more people related to it than any others.

Today, I wanted to share those 5-New Golden Ruleswith you that will help you maintain a stellar rep in your life and business....


The New Golden Rules of Life & Business

1. Call People Back.
2. Do / Deliver On What You Say You Are Going To Do/ Deliver On
3. Service Your Customers Better Than Anyone.
4. Give a SH%T.
5. Show Up On-Time.

The rules are simple folks.
They always have been.

But I can not tell you how many times these golden rules are broken.

Derek Jeter gave me amazing advice I never forgot: "If people do not respect your time, they do not respect you."

Are you allowed an occasional miss? Yes.

But you better be upfront about it by letting the person know you value them and their time. Or, if it is legit, you better follow up and explain. 

You see, there is a lot of chatter today about "being kind" and to "love one another"- but I firmly believe those sayings look better on a t-shirt since they are seldom acted upon.

I believe we should first be focused on doing what is right.

Doing the right thing.

For you. For others. For our families. For those we lead.

DO what is right.

The rest will take care of itself.

It always does.

And, if there are people out there that you are just blowing off- stop it!

Have the guts and the nuts to tell them you are not interested.

That is doing what is right.

When you do what is right and you follow your gut- that is a killer combo and it will provide you liberation like you would not believe!

I can not tell you how many folks I know in business who take meetings for the sake of taking meetings.

They feel obligated.

They have no intention of doing business.

As a matter of fact- they can not stand the person that is pitching the meeting.

Just say no.

It is what is right.

When we do what is right- we win.

Play offense.

Be attentive to yourself and others.

Do not let others be losers around you because they choose to not follow the Golden Rules written above!

Ok- that is all I have for you today.

Now, today, make sure you are not breaking any of those rules.

When you follow the rules- your power and influence grow.
