Every morning, I get up, take a shower, and then make the bed.
It is a habit of mine- before making the bed was a thing.
Maybe because I come from a long line of bed-makers.....
My dad makes the bed every morning.
I guess when you see a certain pattern for many years- you begin to emulate it.
But this morning, as I was making my bed, I realized that there are two ways to do it.
1. Pull the bottom sheet "the best you can" and pull the blanket over... OR,
2. Take the top sheet, blanket, and pillows off the bed... reset the sheet on the bed, reset and balance the top sheet, tuck it ( if you are into that- I am not a big fan), put the blanket back on and make sure all the lines on the comforter are tight... the pillows are put back on, upright and the accent pillows after that...
ALL STRAIGHT LINES.
A REAL RESTORATION HARDWARE LOOK.
The type of bed making that you take a few steps back from and even you, the bedmaker are impressed.
The bed looks like it could be in a hallmark movie.....
What is your point Coach?
My point is this....
You can do anything one of two ways:
1. Good Enough... OR,
Be excellent in all that you do....
I also realized this...
1. You can go FAST to be done.... Or,
2. You can go SLOW and do an amazing job....
I believe too many today are focused on FAST and are content with checking the box... just good enough because they have so many boxes to check today...
Doing less, but doing more things GREAT I believe is the key..
I found this to be almost therapeutic... doing a great job.
When you know you did a great job.. you never question your performance.
Knowing you did your best is one of the most powerful SUCCESS Lessons one can teach....
And, for those who lead others, it is your job to teach others to do and be their best....
I learned that from my dad.
Do it right- all the time.
I was taught.
You need to teach greatness and the pursuit of excellence amongst those you lead and your family...
Take the time.
You have it.
Focus on less... but be EXCELLENT on all that you focus on!
