Hey Team...

Today is a special blog for me.

It is personal.

It is for a very special person.

It is for all that struggle.

Last year around this time, a friend of mine, Matt "Dezy" DiStefano was diagnosed with Kidney Cancer.. and had tumors all over his body...

Dezy is an Athlete.

A Coach.

A Teacher...

But also a Husband and a Dad.

He is a local Long Island Hero and a guy that never seems to have a bad day....

An attitude of a winner, the smile of a star, and the ability to always pick you up and make you feel good....

Today, I honor this guy. Celebrate him

WE, honor him and celebrate this amazing guy who was just given a few weeks to live.... to celebrate life... to make an impact... and that is exactly what he is doing..making an impact and changing lives.

A few months after being diagnosed, he made a commitment to live life to the fullest and create an amazing foundation, THE DEZY STRONG FOUNDATION, which will help, support, and encourage those struggling with this horrible disease...

Although his chips were down by a worldly perspective, He made a choice to be more about WE than ME.

He decided to change the World for those who are struggling, those who are in the fight against cancer with his commitment. 

He took his passion for sports and began touching local sports programs, patients at Sloan, spreading his message day after day... He brought his message all the way to the University of North Carolina (which is quite far for us New Yawka's), but really across the nation with his mission, message, and words of encouragement that simply say: WE GET TO.

WE GET TO wake up every day and train.

WE GET TO chase our dreams.

WE GET TO lead our companies and teams to greatness.

WE GET TO put on the uniform.

WE GET TO tell our friends and family that we love them.

WE GET TO have the early AM meeting.

WE GET TO get on that flight across the world for business or pleasure.

Let's make a commitment to my man DEZ, that when we are feeling down, feeling out, and feeling like we don't have the guts, the heart, or the desire to do something.... that we remember his mantra: WE GET TO....

For a guy that had it all, a Doctor tried to change that perspective on him with a diagnosis and months of treatments... 

BUT, like a true warrior, he realized not only did he have it all.... HE STILL DOES.

He GETS TO be the amazing blessing that he is....

He GETS TO help us be better each day....

He GETS TO impact us as we struggle to be happy with what we have....
