Even on Wedding Day it is important to get your run in.. (after you forget the rings!)

Well I am coming off of a life changing weekend..

After 35 years.. I got married this weekend!

Very exciting times..

And also.. a moment that could of been extremely nerve racking!

This could have been the equivalent mentally to pitching in a big game 7 in the World Series.. but what I learned in all my years from some of the World's TOP Performers.. (those who pitch with the game on the line)... is that if you can't manage emotion... you are TOAST!

So this weekend.. I deployed the many techniques that were taught to me by the great Mariano Rivera.. SLOW DOWN, QUIET THE NOISE, TAKE ONE MOMENT AT A TIME..and while this was going on.. I was actually able to feel my heart rate auto-regulate itself.. downshifting and putting less stress on the engine!

Now some of you may think I am crazy writing this about marriage.. but it relates to any BIG or NEW situation in your life that may be causing you performance anxiety..

A BIG Speech.. A BIG At-Bat, A BIG Free-Throw, A BIG Meeting... A BIG Interview..

We decide how much magnitude and power we  will give ANY SITUATION..

Now you can not control ALL THINGS.. But.. you CAN Control Response..

  • You are always in control of responses..
  • Your thoughts can accelerate or decelerate your heart rate and cadence..
  • Your thoughts can create stress or reduce it..
  • Your thoughts can create a lack of efficiency or they can create total efficiency..

Big moments and challenges mean you are heading down the road of Change and Growth.. a road many decide not to drive or walk down..

But if you can be excited about this road.. this new road.. and you start RUNNING down this road.. your life will change..

And.. a life that is always changing.. is a life that is very rewarding..

Part of this reward is the experience you will gain, the security you will feel from within (not externally).. and the growth of perspective you will experience in everything you do...

On top of the techniques I disclosed.. the other critical element to "getting through" and enjoying the weekend stress-free was the amazing family and friends that came out and showed tremendous love and support..

As I always say.."Coaches NEED Coaching Too!"

Go find your road.. and start hard charging down it!
