It's Friday... 

We made it!

Woo ha!

Yesterday was a busy day for me working with clients... and I saw a common theme: Fatigue.

Yup. You read that correct. Business Leaders that are exhausted.


Well.. it is simple.. They Never Stop. They are always powered in the "ON" Position.

And that my friends.. it exhausting.. so I took my writing skills to LinkedINand wrote an article titled: 

How to know if you are suffering from Success Addiction?

Success Addiction?

Is there such a thing?

You bet there is.

How do you know if you have it?

If you have answered YES to any of the next 3 questions, there is a good chance you are a sufferer of Success Addiction.

  1. You have no clear start/end to your day/ work day/ work week.
  2. You find yourself thinking about your business/ career more than 12 hours per day.
  3. Your passion and love for your career and business is greater than anything else in your life.

If you do not answer YES to any of the above questions, you are free to go. For the rest of you, class is in session.

Why is this important that you understand the downfalls of Success Addiction? Well, if you think it will make you rich you may be partially right.

You may make a fortune, but that fortune could cost you everything.

Your health.

Your relationship.

Your sanity.

Quite possibly even your life.

The chase for success could actually kill me?

Well, actually there have been many victims of work related casualties as a result of high stress work without downtime or unplugging.

Often times many suffer from chronic anxiety, panic attacks, and even cardiovascular events that derail their performance and work pursuits indefinitely.

If you have ever had a panic attack, you know what I mean.

A panic attack is a mock heart attack. It is prepping you for the real thing. Meaning, if you keep up this type A, high intensity, obsessive behavior, a heart attack may just be in your future.

As somebody who has spent his entire career putting high performers back together, consider this a warning.

If you do not make your health your #1 focus and priority (physical and mental), ultimately your health will always become the priority. If you choose not to focus on it, you will be forced to focus on it.

Remember the CEO of United Airlines? Oscar Munoz most notably having to take leave for a heart attack he suffered in 2015. Cause = Chronic Stress.

Do you think it is just coincidence some of the leading drugs heading out the doors of pharmacy's today are antidepressants and anxiety related drugs?

Or the mere fact you can't get through a magazine today without hearing about mindfulness, meditation, and/or yoga?

It is not just coincidence.

It is a real problem.

The inability to turn-off. The inability to let the body restore itself.

We charge our cell phones each night, but we seldom recharge ourselves.

I will leave you with these parting words.

Please. Please take the time to realize your greatest success will come when you are able to fully put your health first. Mental & Physical health. Make your daily routine include the following:

  • Cardiovascular Exercise
  • Stretching & Flexibility
  • Tempo Based Breathing
  • Fueling with Clean Food
  • Hydration with Water
  • Bath/Steam/ or Sauna post work

The Big 6 will help ensure you are putting yourself first. When you put yourself first, your chances of winning in all that you do go way up.

Put yourself first place.
