I hope you had a great weekend of resting and relaxing!
There is nothing more important than resting and recharging your body and mind.
Being guilt-free about it is critical.
For many high performers, this is often proven to be very difficult to do.
Well, they feel like they are falling behind. Losing ground. Wasting time.
I will have you know this: You are not wasting time- you are giving your body and mind exactly what they need to be great.
When working with high performance athletes, the rest and recovery is as important as the work.
When they do not rest enough from the workload, well, they break...
And as we all know, a breakdown can be very costly.
So, we build in rest. Daily. Weekly. Monthly.
It is critical.
Let's face it.
We have a lot of pressure on us today.
Both societal and personal.
But that pressure does not have to work against us.
It can work for us to keep us excited and motivated.
It only works that way though if the body and mind are rested and recovered daily..
I can not tell you how many people I work with that live in a chronic state of burn-out...
The first step to getting them back is helping them to gain perspective on their own life...
Then, we focus on building their vitality through diet and a training plan...
While at the same time we are focusing them on what is really important to them...
We do this by defining winning for them...
Once they get this plan in place, they now have a system of analysis that says:
But one thing we know for sure is this: We all have a capacity...
When we go above that capacity, we suffer stress, anxiety, and breakdown...
When we fall short of capacity, we feel like we should and could do more (because we can)...
We must all work to work to our own capacity without pushing the upper limits for too long...
Because if we do that, we will not be effective.
When we have too much on our plate, for too long, we always lose.
That is how it works.
Simple as that.
So this week, make a hit list of the 3-5 essentials that you want and need to get done. Once you nail them- then enjoy your free time.
That is healthy.
That is what Champions do.
Do less, achieve more because you are doing the RIGHT things!
Play to win.
