THE PURSUIT OF LESS TO ACHIEVE MORE.

You read that correctly.

Achieve more by chasing less. Possible?

Possible.

Think about achievement for a minute. For the TYPE A out there, Winning is the only option. The achievement of goals is addictive and drives a harder pursuit once a goal is achieved.

Let's break this down.

The TYPE A, over achiever has a pursuing mind that is conditioned to chase, not be content. So in order for this type of person to "recover" and "freshen up", they must reframe their mindset.

There was a book that came out last year, called Essentialism. The objective of the book was to get you to think about your key driver of success, dialing down all the noise until you find it.

After doing this, you will see how much of your day is actually spent "not living" and "not taking care of yourself", but rather on mindlessly playing 30 rounds of mental tennis between your ears, weighing pros and cons, this vs. that and pursuing tasks that don't serve you.

If you are able to dummy down, essentially finding the ONE THING that you are extraordinary at, the idea is to make that your sole focus. Since that has now become your sole focus, the next step is to delegate and assign all the other "stuff" that takes you away from your ONE THING/ Zone of Genius. Some others like to refer to it as your 5%.

This is extremely hard to do, since the typical type A is usually talented in multiple areas and controlling, as well as multi-passionate.

But, out of all those areas you are "good" at, we are looking for the one that you are "great" at. The ONE THING you do better than anybody else.

Now sometimes this one thing is not a BIG thing, but can be as small as (yet big): I am a master negotiator. That is all you do. Others set up the meeting, the framework, then you go do your thing.

One of my clients is a master at this. He is in finance and said math was his worst subject. Yet, he has mastered the ART OF NEGOTIATION. So, when he is looking for investment into his private equity firm, he is used for one thing: Go get the money.

Dialing down to where you excel will make life so much easier because this is your TALENT! All the tasks that are difficult for you create 95% of the stress that you have.

Look to become efficient. Simplify. Become and essentialist. This is an art, especially in a world that is filled with stimulus.

At first you may feel "lazy" or like you are not doing anything because this comes so "Easy" to you. But, remember, it comes easy to you because it is your "THING".

What is easy to you, is difficult for others. That is how you build a great team.

Think about how much free time you will have to LIVE if you can shed the junk weight.

I encourage you today to "dial down" and focus on finding your 5%. It may even help by asking colleagues, friends and family to help you identify your strengths. When they say it, you will know you hit it right because it will be greeted by a big smile on your part. It is like somebody hitting your hot button or serotonin receptor!

Give it a shot.. post below what your ZONE OF GENIUS is! #likeapro
