Hey Team...

I was fortunate enough to be at the US Open a few days ago....

For a native New Yorker, believe it or not, this was my first time there and I really enjoyed it.

I watched #1 in the World for the women, Naomi Osaka.....

But last night, on ESPN, I watched the amazing 15 year old phenom from Florida, COCO Gauff.

Wow.

15 years old. Playing on the biggest stage. Internationally broadcasted.

The entire stadium chanting her name.

My question to you is this....

How would you handle this situation?

Would you put an immense amount of pressure on yourself?

Would you rise to the occasion, or would you be so overwhelmed by the moment that you would not be able to perform?

Think about it.
  • Put yourself "on the court".
  • Put yourself "in that big meeting"....
  • Put yourself "at that big conference"..
  • Put yourself "managing that team, organization, or company"....
  • Do you rise or sink?

Well, so many that I Coach talk about their struggles.... and most are built on their own hesitations... with the root being their own self-esteem, confidence, and overall belief in their innate gifts and skill sets....

A lack of trust...

But what if I told you that YOU ARE READY.

Look at COCO... she is ready.

On Saturday she will face #1 in the world, and I do believe she will be amazing because she is:

  • Poised.
  • Focused.
  • Playing Offense.
  • Not phased by the #1.
  • Has nothing to lose.
  • Is the perceived "under-dog".
  • A great self-coach.

Watch her play.

She is Coaching herself the entire match.

After good shots. Bad shots.

Never overly emotional in her coaching, but very confident as her own coach.

You will not have confidence in all moments, but you can pep talk yourself and coach yourself to elevated "in the moment" confidence.

So, as you feel hesitation, fear, or magnitude of the moment even dare elevate your stress, core temperature, heart rate, or confident-less thoughts.....

Coach yourself to greatness.

Coach yourself by validating yourself.

Tell yourself that you are ready, capable, prepared, and talented.

It is in you.

Face your fears. Go at them like a lion. It may not feel innate, but the more you do it, that trained response will make you that confident lion.

Let's GO!

Chase Greatness.

Yep, chase greatness. It has more jagged teeth then a recliner in front of a TV, you can get used to those teeth, lol. Its rewards are resting well and serving your family a ceiling they can stand on. Meaning our roof is our children’s floor. Cheers to you Coach!

BTW – Watch Fresno State vs USC – What a story behind the Fresno State coach who was once the coach of the Pac 12 Cal Bears.
