Hey Team...
It's Friday... woohoo!
We made it!
And, the 4th is just around the corner!
I wanted to share a quick story with you about some baseball players I have been working with...
Now, baseball is a game where if you fail 7 times out of 10 times you are considered great...
But, the downside is, you are often times left feeling negative, like a failure, and down on yourself...
This week, in Puerto Rico, I had the chance to get deep with many of the players as they expressed to me what REALLY goes through their heads when they play...
Common Theme: Trying Not to Fail...
Yup. They are constantly playing defense, even when they have a bat in their hand and are supposed to be playing offense.
And, even when they are playing defense, where they have a glove in their hand, they are trying not to make a mistake.
Imagine that?
Can you relate?
Living in a way, where subconsciously everything you do, every action you take, every thought you have is there to PROTECT YOU from making a mistake?
Crazy right.
How could you ever get into a FLOW state, a RHYTHM... or, just playing with heart, love, and passion?
You can't. That is where the Coaching comes in. That is where we work backwards to figure out what is actually causing them to jam themselves up.
You know what it is? They are 100% attached to their thoughts....
They see themselves as their results...
Example: If I strike out, I am a failure. = Don't Strike Out and I Won't be a Failure = Strike Out = Failure...
You see, we can not see ourselves as our results....
We must not attach to the results....
We must understand, that sometimes we get bad results.. but that does not make us bad, it just makes us have bad results in that particular moment...
That is why we train...
That is why we practice...
That is why we are constantly preparing so when we get into a FLOW STATE, we have the best CHANCES for positive results...
Even then, with all that hard work, the results are not guaranteed.
Got it?
Same goes for you.
If you are not getting the result you want, don't see yourself as:
Not worthy.
Not able to obtain it.
Or get so down on yourself that you think you are a loser or failure.
This goes for any emotion...
If you want to SELF-CORRECT... when you are Feeling the Feeling, ask yourself what is really driving that feeling and what you are protecting yourself from?
Then, realize, you can just let it go...
Don't give your feelings or thoughts much power.... and the only way you give them power is by focusing on them...
Not you my friends- you have the gift of letting that sucker go free!
Cheers to a great weekend...
Get out, have fun, train hard, be great.
Chase Greatness...
