There is a word today that I believe is 100% responsible for the pressure that most high performers put on themselves.
Ready for it?
That word is SUCCESS.
From when we are young- our parents want us to be successful = pressure.
Our teachers want us to be successful = pressure.
Our sports coaches want us to be successful = pressure.
We therefore want to be successful = pressure (oftentimes to please or appear a certain way to others- or to stand out so we feel great about ourselves)
Well, what if that pressure was actually the cost of your own personal happiness and costing you achievement that would require less force and instead, be attained through more flow and more passion?
This is the key.
When you can grow through flow not force- you win.
You win because you are riding the wave instead of swimming against it.
The moments in my life when I am at my best- or doing my best- have always been the results of a moment in time when I gave up the chase.
Time when I made a conscious decision to surrender.
A time when I decided to attract vs. pursue.
Success is one of the most overused words today on social channels, magazines, amongst industry leaders and virtually any publication that promotes getting better.
But, when success is mentioned, it is always mentioned alongside words like work, grind, hustle, out-work- all of which require OUTPUT.
The truth is, what if SUCCESS was more about your INPUTS than your OUTPUTS?
You see, after coaching top tier business leaders AND top athletes for more than two decades now, there is one common strand I have seen. Ready?
⭐ THEY ALL TAKE TIME TO THINK ⭐
Actual dedicated time on their schedule- daily- to think.
Some refer to it as: Quiet Time.
What it is called does not matter- but what does matter is if you are applying this to your life...
What if the greatest performance hack of all time is taking time to think, alone and in-silence.
With a pen and a pad.
This takes discipline. Listen to this weeks podcast on Extreme Discipline.

In a time where anxieties are running wild and leaders and aspiring leaders are on the verge of burnout, isn't it time to rework, retool, and rewire the system?
Let's take time today and give this a try.
Start with 10-minutes.
Then, do it again tomorrow.
We are hit with more daily content, marketing messages, and noise today than ever before.
Our old brain can not process all of this- and since it is always trying to keep up, it eventually fatigues out and you are left feeling a lack of creativity and fighting to stay on top. Fighting to retain more information.
That old brain is powerful- when we listen to it.
Take in less.
Really think about (input) what you are taking in by being intentional about what you allow in.
The more you do this, the better you become.
More is not better.
Understanding, processing, and application are all that matter.
If you do not believe me about the old brain- for those who are on social media- ask yourself about the last 5-things you saw.
Explain them in detail.
Most can not because the brain can not keep up with the scrolling speed and as a result is left with incomplete information.
Take time to think today.
Go to that classroom of silence and watch how your brain reactivates!
