I wanted to kick off this week with something bold.
Ready for it?
Those who live their life with radical discipline live a life that is most predictable, most rewarding, and with the least amount of worry about what might happen.
Now, you can pick this apart and say, "Coach, are you freaking nuts? This is how you have a coronary!"
Well, I would caution you to read this again.
Nowhere did I write you need to be tight, anal-retentive, or robotic.
I am saying that when you are able to have a process in place that you live your life by, you have know what you have to do, when you have to do it, who you will be doing it with, and the outcomes that will be produced by replicating that process over and over and over again.
Will you have surprises?
Will things happen to you that are out of your control?
Will you be ready?
You will be ready because you train every single day to be in a mindset that is proactive- and ready to react.
Not reactive- and ready to snap.
You see, most people that live a life on edge, unable/ unwilling to adapt are living by default- whatever happens- happens.
Or, they are trying to everything and the next thing can break them.
You must have a system in place.
A repeatable system and process that you execute daily.
When we work with high performing athletes- it is all about the system, the fundamentals, and then managing the process and system making tweaks along the way to make sure it is still well build and functioning well for them.
Everyday we hammer nails and build.
Again- to some this may sound extreme and horrible- but it works.
When you get a routine in place that is customized and built for you- amazing things will happen.
I will say this- sticking with it though is hard.
I can not tell you how many executives I work with that sneak out of their routine- they find reasons to get off track...
They over-think their way away from their routine....
They take on projects that eat their time and their brains away from their routines...
Instead of working their simple routine daily with radical discipline- they gradually move away from it one excuse at a time- usually blaming a work trip or crisis as the reason why.
Today, ask yourself where you are letting your discipline slide and what are you allowing to dominate you?
What excuses are you making?
Cut it out!!!!
Let's go out and win today!
