So, I am sitting here writing this as I look out onto the water after an amazing sales retreat with one of my favorite companies, Arkay Packaging.
For the last few years I have been so fortunate to lead this retreat as a coach/ facilitator with 3-simple goals:
I do this by sharing the Habits of a Champion, and what makes it easy is the amazing team that sits in front of me.
They have great leadership in Mitchell Kaneff, Walter Shields, Brian Hopkins, and Ruth Rugoff - a passionate group that is open to outside input and coaching- rather than using ego and a know-it-all approach like so many often use.
Now, if any company has the right to do this it is Arkay, as they are approaching their 100-year anniversary.
But, they are open, willing, and 100% committed to their people.
That is what I love about them.
To kick off this years retreat, I shared with them two words that should be used and deployed daily:
Be excited for what you are going to do.
Be excited to attack the day.
Be excited to make it happen.
Whenever I work live with teams, I put them uniform.
I make a custom shirt for them and it is great to see all members dressed in uniform.
It is bonding.
It is connective.
This years shirt for Arkay said: TEAM ARKAY, Making It Happen Since 1922.
But the only way you can make it happen is if you are excited.
Now, here is the disclosure, we are all going to face problems.
If we are in business and working in competitive environments, or any environment for that matter, we will face issues: BE EXCITED.
You see, it is that PMA, or Positive Mental Attitude that can help you overcome anything that comes your way.
Every morning on my walk ( I do about 3 miles per day), I remind myself:
It is a survival mechanism for me.
I find it impossible for fear to survive when you are excited.
I am always exchanging pressure for passion- by telling myself, GET EXCITED.
These are two powerful words.
The other message I shared yesterday was this...
When in doubt, DEFAULT TO ACTION.
Less time thinking, contemplating and wondering - as these states creates anxiety and often times no action due to over-thinking.
When we DEFAULT TO ACTION, that means we are doing something.
And when we do something- we always feel better because we are growing.
We are moving forward.
We are taking action on our goals.
Action is critical.
Over-thinking without action is a recipe for mental distress...
So rather than think, DO.
Now, let's go take action today...
But first, BE EXCITED!!!!!
