      I had to write about this today because I met a very interesting man at Gurney's in Montauk Point, Long Island this past weekend.
       
      His name was Dr. Emmanuel Faccio.. a medical doctor from NYC by way of Puerto Rico.
       
      When I travel, my favorite part is the interesting people you meet, typically at the gym, pool, or spa- and today was definitely one of those days.
       
      What started out as a casual conversation based on "sauna-temperature" actually turned into a dialogue about the origins of stress.
       
      Dr. Faccio turned out to be a Doc that has spent his time studying how the body, mind, and spirit are all interconnected. His focus was on the origin of happiness and true well-being. What I loved about him was the delivery of his message was educated, deep, but actually quite simple.
       
      I had begin to disclose what I do with Athletes, CEOS, and high level executives, and he asked me if I also take care of myself.. you know with boundaries, limits on my time, and spending at least a day each week to "recharge".. along with a daily tech detox..
       
      Confidently I was able to answer with a "YES"... followed by a "but"; The "but" being.. sometimes I miss a week.. and that always wreaks havoc on my creativity, stress-life, and overall well-being.
       
      At that point he knew we were on the same page... and divulged to me something very interesting:
       
      "Dana, the world does not converse anymore. Due to exclusive technology based communication, we have lost empathy and interest for one another. We have lost good, honest, eye to eye conversation.. which is actually one of the most beautiful things in the world- and also is one of those things that helps to keep people relaxed."
       
      He went on to say, "Much of the world is medicated with medicines like xanex right now because they can not come down. The world is laced with fear.. and that fear of the unknown is what is driving all of their stress."
       
      Amazing stuff. FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN is the major contributor to the world's stress. That is what his practical research has shown.
       
      So basically, anytime you have fear, it can often be traced back to fear of that "what if".. the "if that happens, then...".. amazing stuff. We are stressing over things that have not even happened and may never will happen!
       
      This is what totally debilitates people when it comes to achieving massive success in their life. Fear.
       
      They are scared of success. They are scared to see themselves succeed. Scared to see themselves think differently and break an old pattern they are comfortable with.
       
      One of the most inspiring and thoughtful conversations I have had in a long time. Anytime you can leave a conversation with a greater understanding of "why"... it is a win..
       
      In this particular instance, Dr. Faccio was able to answer the why, and also follow up with some basics on how to combat the stress.
       
      The major tip was to disconnect- and make that disconnection a "NON-NEGOTIABLE".. that is your time.. and as he told me, "YOU DESERVE IT"...

      Dear Dana:
      I’m not even sure how the stars aligned- but minutes before i read your article about Dr Faccio- My step daughter texted me in the hospital to tell me to make an appt with him for my daughter. My daughter Katie has been very sick for 8 years. Multiple surgeries, many doctors, hospitals, healers, medical intuitives and alternative doctors. We will be here for a couple more days. I am doing to reach out to Dr Faccio. You and I are in a similar world. You’re doing amazing things. All my best, Jackie
