MOST BORING ROUTINES ARE WHAT WORK THE BEST- TAKE IT FROM AROD.
This is my go to line: "Consistency over time is what yields the greatest results."
This is what top athletes and executives do better than everybody else. They check the boxes more often and more consistently than everybody else. Combined with their focus, discipline, and personal accountability, they get the results they want over time.
The link above is a short video about Alex Rodriguez and his morning routine and habits that have led to his success on and off the field.
He is definitely not alone. The best of the best are all extremely routine and calculated. Having worked with this guy day in and day out for over 10 years, I can tell you everything he says is true.
Think about your own life- are you a positive routine individual? Do you have a morning routine and an evening routine that you live by?
During my PRODAY workshop that I teach to University Students, Companies, and Elite Sports Organizations, one of the exercises we do is actually teach people how to build an AM/PM Routine. Implementing this routine everyday will help keep you focused, calm, less reactive, and more consistent.
The greatest players in the World are the most routine. Even artists/ musicians who many think are a bit chaotic are extremely routine when it comes to their GAME DAY. Everything is planned, organized, and sequenced.
I am a firm believer in heart rate acceleration early in the day, breaking a sweat before lunch, and making sure you are taking in a high nutrient diet, fruits and vegetables early to power your engine for the day. Charging your body up will help your overall alertness and awareness day after day.
That is a routine I live by- gym first, blog second, then everything else. Sorting myself out physically and mentally puts me in a much better space to handle what they day is bringing my way.
I will leave you with this, "In a world that wants you to be overly fancy and complicated, double down on simplicity. Create a routine that is easy for you to understand, makes your feel great, and make it a non-negotiable.
In order to do that it may have to begin at 5am depending on how long it takes- but never compromise your routine. If you are willing to compromise your routine, you are willing to also compromise your results. Better routines = Better results."
