Hi Team..

Happy Monday...

Yesterday was a tough day...

What started out amazing really made a turn around lunch time when finding out about the news of Kobe Bryant passing....

For those who have been on the blog for a while, you know I love to reference the competitive spirit of the Black Mamba, Kobe.

Sunday, we lost an icon.

I am sure some of you are not very familiar with his playing style and what he stood for, but, I did want to take some time today to talk about it using just a few words that you can apply to your day to day life...

Before I go on, what if, when your final day approached, people used those 4-words to describe you?

And before we go on, if that day were to come today (a bit morbid I know- this is for exercise purposes only)... what would people say about you?

What would your 4-words be today?

If you are not happy with the words you see and feel, the best part is, you can change them starting today.

One of my former players and Yankees Pitcher, Phil Hughes, posted that just last week Kobe pulled his car over in Newport Beach, CA to help somebody who was injured in an accident... he stayed to comfort them until the medics came....(CHARITABLE)

During his playing career, he dealt with major injuries, including one of the hardest to rehabilitate, a torn achilles.. and made it back. He led his team to 5-NBA Championships...which for most players, they leave the league with one. (COMPETITIVE)

One of his missions was to develop the competitive spirit in children through sports... He started his Mamba Sports Academy, a state of the art training facility to teach kids about the competitive journey of sports.. not just a place to work on skills. (INSPIRING)

“Mamba Mentality isn’t about seeking a result. It’s about the journey and the approach. It’s a way of life”
– Kobe Bryant

Over the past few weeks, I have been Coaching many of my 50+ year old clients on the  word: LEGACY.

What will you be known for, recognized for, seen as.....

Nobody will remember that weekly cash-flow or the late nights at work when nobody is around....

But, they will remember how you make them feel....

It is hard to get somebody who has been hyper-focused on growth to truly get that at first because you can not measure the result in dollars and cents...

But, when they do finally get it, they are able to begin working in a very different way...

Rather than thinking for the day around the singular concept of: How much did we bring in today?

They are finally able to ask the question: HOW MANY DID WE REACH AND IMPACT TODAY?

That is how you build legacy....

Yesterday, the WORLD stopped briefly across many different fields and arenas, from sports to entertainment, from news outlets to the family table...

Kobe, the Mamba, was a winner, a competitor, an inspiration, and reached the highest status of all... LEGEND.

You can too.

How do you want to be remembered?

That journey starts today.
