IS YOUR FOOD ALIVE OR DEAD?
Shelf life is something that amazes me about food.
Produce has a short life span when in the market or in our refrigerator, but then there are the foods that come in cans and boxes that can last a short life time!
Amazing.
Now, I am not a food specialist, but using some common sense I ask myself, "Which is healthiest and which provides the most nutrient density?"
I came up with this answer: The shorter the shelf life, the healthier the food.
This is what I believe!
Even though we can now consumer our fruits and vegetables in powders and tablets, I still put food with a short shelf life in the first position!
Makes sense right?
Even the same is true with fish, poultry, and meat as opposed to a canned meat product.
Freshness is key when it comes to your food. I know this sounds like a very basic rant, but how many foods, spices, seasonings, marinades, and other canned/ boxed products do you consume over the course of the day?
I call this negative nutrition.
Why?
Because instead of fueling yourself with a food that is perishable due to the higher nutrient content and values, you are subbing it out in favor of something with shelf life, or a "Dead" food.
