Hi Team...

Well, I got up early, got my mind right, and am ready to go coach today!

I am writing to you from Miami- and the sun is just starting to come up....

I go on at 1pm today- and have a 3hr. coaching session to do for one of the top sportswear brands- who's logo includes a certain kind of cat!

With that said, whenever I have to coach for an extended period of time- it requires high focus and high energy....

So, I NEVER COMPROMISE one of the most important things I learned and taught players in professional sports...


Routines reduce fear.

Routines create a sense of preparedness.

Routines put you in a positive rhythm. 

Routines allow for more predictable outcomes.

Routines are the remedy against what I believe is 100% true...


So, if you want to perform, you can not let you emotions dominate you...

But Coach, what about good emotions?

WELL, good emotions also have the ability to burn energy fast...

I always say give yourself a + or - 5% on the emotion continuum but fight like hell to come from and get back to a position of neutral...

That is what all great competitors and decision makers do...

They get back to neutral and never get too high and never get too low...

They realize the consequence of emotion....

As the great Mariano Rivera once said: We decide what is a big moment- all moments are the same.

Today, as you get ready to attack, ask yourself this question:

What am I giving too much emotion towards?


Who am I giving too much emotion towards?

And then, knock it off.

No client, customer, contract, decision should drain your batteries unless you let it.

Make decisions based on facts- then apply your instincts..

But here is the thing- if you are too accelerated emotionally, your instincts and gut will be dead.

A compass with a magnet to it.

SO, in each moment of your life, always work to take your mind back to neutral- that is your starting place!


That does not mean be dead or act dead- you can still have passion- but mentally keep yourself neutral and focused on what is right in front of you...
