~HPL- It's A Lifestyle~
HPL = High Performance Living. It is not for everybody.
If you were to ask 100 people if they would like to live a life of higher performance, my guess is all 100 would say YES.
The differentiator comes down to ACTION. Tom Brady is considered crazy by many for his focus and behaviors. Lance Armstrong was viewed as an American Outlaw for working to push beyond his physical limits. Derek Jeter was seen as the sports definition of PERFECT.
All high performers. All demanding the most of their bodies and minds in the most potent of moments.
Many entrepreneurs that I work with view themselves as athletes, even though the last time they suited up may have been for a high school street game or Wednesday night basketball at the neighborhood gym.
Nonetheless, once an athlete, always an athlete.
Being an athlete is not just about physicality, but your mentality. The never give-up, keep fighting till the end, never quit on yourself, give me the ball mentality.
It is a mentality the average performer just does not have.
Can it be taught? Learned?
The only way it can be taught or learned is through immersion. You must immerse yourself in the teachings, the presence and life of those that are high performers around you. You must endure the hardship of working close to your limits.
The old, "You are the sum of your 5 closest friends and people you hang out with" holds true here.
Where are you at in your High Performance Journey?
Have you lost your edge? Has your axe become dull? Are you tired?
Remember this, "When you lose your fight and start accepting your behaviors (even though they are not winning behaviors) you have started to process of performance decline."
You can not expect excellence if you settle for daily choices of mediocrity. Skipping your workouts. Eating high starch diets. Running and working until your body shuts down. Living a life that is not balanced is unsustainable. You will lose that game.
Living a HPL is about sharpening your axe a little bit everyday, finding your drive and training that 6th sense.
Prepare for your battle that sits ahead. The battle you know nothing about yet.
Creating mental and physical fortitude that will drive you through your darkest days- and provide a strong enough light to drive others. Don't underestimate your glow.
This is what we should be learning from sports. Learning from the successful athletes around us. This is what we should be learning in our post graduate schooling. How to be a winner and develop a winning mindset, body and life.
High Performance Living is not for everybody. It is for those who seek more out of themselves without falling victim to the demands and false realities of society.
I share this with you today as a "TIP OF THE CAP" to those who live without excuses, say what they mean, have higher levels of discipline while still enjoying their life in the fast-lane.
That can be you. You should demand that of yourself. When you quit on yourself, you find yourself on the wrong side of the bell curve.#PROmindset#trainlikeaPRO
