Hey Team..
There is so much talk about "the best way to lose weight and burn fat" out there...
And, a big debate that has risen is between fasted cardio and un-fasted cardio....
Which is best?
Which works the best?
Which should YOU do?
Well, before anybody falls victim to the seductive headlines of Mens/Women's Health Magazine, I want to give you some back story....
It begins with: What is best for you?
Meaning, when you test FASTED vs. UN-FASTED, which one makes you feel like you got the better training session?
I only ask this because we are all radically different metabolically.
There are some people that we classify in the world of strength and conditioning as: BURNERS.
Others, classified as: SLOW BURNERS.
Burners, are typically super lean individuals that eat something and are hungry within the hour.
When they do activity, they can often find themselves feeling lightheaded and suffering from what they title as: LOW BLOOD SUGAR.
Slow Burners on the other hand...well, they are never truly at risk of running out of fuel because they have heavy reserves.
They are typically thicker individuals who struggle to hit high metabolic thresholds that can accelerate burning....making weight-loss and fat-burn tougher.
So, just reading the last 2 statements, Who would you think would be best for FASTED CARDIO?
If you guessed the SLOW BURNERS, you are right.
BURNERS, if they do FASTED CARDIO, they are at greater risk for early fatigue, loss of focus, injury, and that feeling of dizziness due to low fuel.....but the slow burners, they typically do not suffer from the same issues.
The SLOW BURNERS, well, they could really benefit from FASTED CARDIO because of their heavy fuel reserves.
They (SLOW BURNERS) need the fasted cardio to help speed up their metabolic rate, burn down reserves, and in turn, this makes them more metabolically efficient throughout the remainder of the day.
Their EPOC, or post exercise burn rate will accelerate when they do fasted cardio.
As you are working to figure out what is best for you to burn the most body-fat, always remember your body-type and what type of burner you are.
Never fall for the headlines.
Don't put yourself in the one-size-fits-all camp. You will be doing yourself an epic disservice modeling your behaviors after unrealistic models.
