Happy Monday! (13-left in 2021!)....
Are you ready for another big week?
Well, if you are, I want to share a strategy with you to keep you moving forward...
I call this: Mechanics Over Emotions.
Coach, what the hell are you talking about?
Ok- think about the things you do not do or the things you put off- they are usually attached to an emotion...
Meaning, when you think of these things, you feel your batter draining- or, they are greeted with negative feelings, thoughts, or the words: "I will do it- I should do it- I will get to it- or, Once I am done with ___________ I will get to it."
All the results of you just not sitting down and doing it.
Your emotions and "what-if" thoughts are paralyzing you.
The work you actually have to do does not even have to be challenging-often time it isn't.
The work we avoid is often simple work- we are just too fried mentally oftentimes to take it on, or, it shows up as just one more thing I have to do, or because it is not pressing- we avoid it.
I always say, if doing that work and completing was greeted with a $10,000 check, I am sure it would be done.
Fatigue is often the behind the scenes culprit of this delay in getting things done.
The other is doing too much and one time.
SO, what do we do?
We always work to simplify.
Simplify your to-do list into daily wins- starting with the question:
WHAT IS MY WIN FOR TODAY?
Then, go do that win.
Then, tomorrow, ask the same question.
Then, go do that win.
Even if you do nothing else, at least you know you won that day.
And, at the end of the week, you stacked 5-wins, with at least one being that thing you have been avoiding.
This is where my philosophy of: "IF IT IS SCHEDULED IT WILL GET DONE" comes into play...
Schedule your daily victory.
Schedule that one win for the day.
Do that daily and watch how much winning you do.
Now, this "schedule-it" strategy is MECHANICAL.
The "doing-it " strategy, since it is scheduled, is also MECHANICAL.
You see, we are not giving your emotions a chance to take over.
Most high performers execute what is scheduled and what is one their list.
What is not on the list or scheduled gets delayed because they give themselves a chance to put emotion to "the thing" they need to get done.
Now, what is your one win for today?
Go do it.
Go out and win today!
