YOUR NEVER TOO OLD OR TOO YOUNG TO KEEP LEARNING AND GETTING STRONGER!
Last night was one of my best nights in years!
I spent the night with 200+ seniors at the Care One Senior Living Facility in Paramus, New Jersey.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by an A+ Team of passionate Executives and Employees (with an archway of Yankee balloons- immediate comfort).
But there was one man that captured me early. His name is Mike.
Mike is in his 70s and is dealing with dementia. The words of his that really inspired me were, "Dana.. Us Seniors have done a lot for this country... and WE ain't done yet"...
This conversation went down in the new FOREVER FIT Workout Facility, the first of its kind geriatric training facility to increase the strength and conditioning levels of seniors.
So as I was ready to grace the stage, I looked out at the crowd and felt the passion of the crowd. This group had a lot of living left to do and it was my job to Coach them and direct them on the best ways to do it!
We talked about STRENGTH. Strength leads to confidence. Confidence leads to more STRENGTH, less falls, and more conviction.
One of the guys I met was 86 and he trains for 2 hours per day, swimming and weight training!-- 7 days per week!
It was no wonder he was rocking a shirt that said HEADSTRONG. Not to mention he was a war veteran and had a bop in his step that was greater than many 20 year olds!
As I was speaking, I realized that people need direction, along with a WHY.. that combination is what will lead to action. They need to believe they can do it again!
No matter what age we are or what we have done in our lives, there will be times of difficulty, times when we just don't have the desire, but with some motivation and good teammates we can do anything we put our minds towards.
Last night was incredibly inspirational especially after the event. Not only was there a line for pictures with yours truly ( I am not sure if the older ladies just wanted a picture of me or if was the World Series Ring pulling them in) but it felt great to hear their stories.
To hear where they have come from, how they have dealt with loss, and how open they were to taking their life back and to the next level so they can truly THRIVE.
I have the greatest job in the World and last night was definitely special. Any time you can speak, inspire, motivate, and guide people towards getting more out of their life, that is a huge win.
The lesson here is simple- give of yourself, motivate others, and in return your bucket will end up full.
Never give up on people because they may be able to give you more in the end than you can give yourself.
