Yes. You heard it.
This does not mean meditation, yoga and expressions of gratitude are bad things.
It does mean that some people have made these the staples of healthy living and have found ways to "mainstream" these disciplines and market them as the gold standard of "relaxation"- and that is not the answer.
For me.. I am in the business of "customization"... understanding a persons needs, life, circumstances, habits, tendencies, personality type, wants and desires... then creating a plan for them.
Does everybody need meditation? Or... can people benefit from just deep breathing through the day or just laying on the floor for a few minutes?
Is yoga the only gold standard of "mindful exercise"... or can just some daily stretching in silence, or to your favorite song be beneficial?
The answer again comes down to DO-YOU!
What works for one person may not work for another.
Personally speaking, meditation is not something I enjoy, but I can do an active walk in the woods for 2 hours and feel incredible! Clear mind, cleansed body... and ready to take on the World!
Rather than turning mindfulness into a business, what if the conversation was more about getting people to stop and think for a minute about what makes them feel relaxed vs. what makes them feel stressed?
Some people love to run... long distances.. or hike or bike... that cleanses their mind and soul... so that works for them.. we should encourage that!
What if there were no gold standards except for the standard you develop for yourself... you winning formula!
This is like somebody telling a night owl to go to bed early... or an early bird to wake up late... it ain't gonna happen.
The reason you can't sleep is because you are plugged in to long and are out of balance with a racy mind... it's like Christmas Morning to a 5yr old every day because of over subscription to tech..
I know we all need reminders... but at what point do we stop enabling ourselves and start taking accountability for the outcomes that are in our life?
My encouragement to you is that you find YOUR PATH.. the way that makes you feel awesome.. the way the makes you feel PRO.
As it relates to PROS...we can make suggestions, but the PRO will always find their way... the way that works for them. The way to maximize performance under the most efficient terms.
Do you actually need mindfulness or do you need to revamp your boring, un-inspiring life? Are you racing to check instagram because you are so bored with your life and what you are doing that you would rather celebrate or compare yours to somebody else's life?
These are the real questions.. as my man Morgan Freeman once Andy Dufraine... "Get Busy Living.. or Get Busy Dying"... now it is your time to GET BUSY LIVING!
** This is not a dig on those who love yoga and meditation.. it is meant to encourage and inspire those who do not to realize there is another way...
