Hey Team...

Hump Day... Wednesday...

Like I always say... the best day of the week to really lock in and make sure you are hitting your Power-Plays and Objectives!

I shared with you earlier in the week about relaunching the 2.0 version of myself.. making sure to really lock down on my nutrition and workouts so I have the most energy to give to others.... after all, that is what Coaching is really about...giving your best to others so they can go on an bring out there inner Champion....

In the past few days though, what was reaffirmed for me was that there is more than just the "health, fitness, and nutrition" component when it comes to energy.....

For myself, what plays a huge role in my success is compartmentalizing things mentally.... that really helps me feel "free and liberated" from myself!

Here me out...

I am flying down to Charlotte today for a big talk tomorrow... and that requires me to work really hard early in my week for my coaching clients, preparing for the talk, doing research on the Company, their situation, etc....

And yesterday,  I really spooked myself by letting everything get the best of me--especially time and my situational obsessive-ness...

I had the chance to see my parents for about 90-minutes.... and I can honestly say, I was not present for ANY of those minutes...

Before going to bed, I realized that I did not even look them in the eye the entire time I was there because I was so "focused" on preparation and readiness (staring at my laptop and phone)... that I lost the present moment for those 90-minutes.. terrible...AND I am really pissed about it.

These are two very important people in my life and I could not let up on the "preparation and readiness" for what I had to do 3-days in the future...

Can you guys relate?

Yesterday made me realize just how FULL my mind was... 

How conditioned for growth and success and forward movement I / we can be that we lose the present....

But it does not have to be that way...

Why?

Well, if we are doing IT right, we are preparing for what it is we have "in the future" every single day of our lives.... 

The best way to live is really with freedom of mind..and open space in your mind.. not the constant squeeze, push, chase, and mental tennis that goes on for most leaders...

So that is when I realized I needed an INDICATOR to induce Mindfulness...

In baseball, and indicator is really just an action that starts a sequence of actions (usually when signs are given to the hitter or player on base)..

As an achiever, the natural cadence is always going to be High Intensity..it is hard to change that....probably impossible...

We must realize that...

And, most importantly, we must realize when our natural nature is getting the best of us....

My indicator is a Deep Breath....for you it could be something else...

Every hour, I take a few deep breaths... in that breath, I get to "pull out" of my thought vortex and come up for air.... and really get to appreciate the present moment...

Yesterday, the Coach failed.. but, like all things, we get a chance to redeem ourselves.. and life is really about an average... 

Meaning, like a baseball hitter, we do not have to be "perfect" every day, but if we have more good days than not so good days, we have a real chance for success over time... the key is being aware enough and mindful enough to realize what we are actually DO-ING, and when we are living in our own version of LA-LA Land..

My friends, keep your life in check. Keep the people around you that mean the most to you in first-place....

In the end, the relationships we have, build, protect, and preserve are really all we have in life... be present enough to make them as valuable as possible....
