Hi Team...

I have a confession to make to you today.....

I am an obsessive worker.

Man, that felt good to get out.

I love to work.

I love to do what I do.

And- because of that, for many years, I never knew when to quit.

When to take a break and just unplug, disconnect, and recover....

I have always been great at doing that physically- taking recovery breaks from the gym, but when it came to work, not so good.

Now, this may appear to be a good thing!

Coach- that is amazing!

You love what you do and just want to keep doing it...

And that is partially right.

The difficulty is that if you are always on- and are never off- you run the risk of feeling like every day is the same and the mind start to work in a repetitive rhythm...

That rhythm too can be both good and bad...

Good because you are routine, bad because you are routine.

I have found in order to stimulate new thoughts, new ideas, new techniques- time off and immersing myself in new activities, surrounding myself with new people, taking on new challenges, reading new things, and listening to different thoughts and perspectives all help.

The other growth factor I have found to be amazing is being outdoors and doing manual labor.

Now, for some, that is where you will quit reading.

Coach, I have no interest in labor of any kind.

I totally get it- but it is the working with your hands- fixing, planting, mowing, cleaning, washing that just does something special to the brain and allows it to relax in a very unique way....

Think about when your next best idea hits you....

It is often when you are doing something totally off the focus of finding that next great idea...

How many of you get your best ideas in the shower?

That is where most of my writing topics come from!

Or, on the weekends at the farm while I am mowing on the tractor, I get struck with many amazing ideas and actually find my mind organizing and compartmentalizing itself.

I am writing this today because I believe you will set yourself up to win- and win more and more- by shaking things up and separating strategically from your day to day work.

When you work- work like an animal!

When you are off- allow your mind to relax and expand.

Take it all in.

Focus on the win by not focusing on the win!

Got it?

Now, since I have decided to take Fridays off- I am off to the feed some pigs, then to the gym, and then to work on a property I am rehabbing!

Practicing what I preach!

Now you go do the same.....

Work hard- recover hard.

Your Coach,

COACH DANA CAVALEA
