Do you battle with a 5-10 lbs. that just won't seem to disappear?

For many people they try to deploy a formula of "work".. and "working out" in order to destroy the weight... but that is too much "work".. and as soon a you stop... back it comes. 

As somebody who travels quite a bit, and who has been speaking/working with athletes and executives who carry a very similar schedule... many of them carry a friendly 5-10lbs... that give them a semi puffy look (not fat..just puffy)...

Often times.. those who battle these 5-10lbs. blame age--but it is NOT.

The culprit is often times a true lack of being 100% honest with yourself..

Meaning.. are you really "on-top" of your diet? Are you really being aware of the sodium you are ingesting? Maybe an extra meal or two out.. 

That is the 10lbs.. 

I mean.. it could be age.. because typically as a 20-something you can not afford that steak at DelFriscos or Peter Lugas..

Let's talk Sports for a minute..

When you see Athletes at the start of Spring Training/ Mini Camp, they are lean, mean, fighting machines looking forward to a great season. 

Many have lost quite a bit of weight to make a great impression on the coaching staff and media... then April comes... travel, lack of sleep, stress, and dining at lavish restaurants, on planes, and in clubhouses... and there goes the off-season!

I have narrowed down the extra 5-10lbs to the following:

  • Dining Out
  • Eating to Close to Bedtime
  • High Stress
  • Erratic Schedule
  • Lack of Sleep or Inconsistent Sleep

Your body prefers a consistent routine.. .in all aspects...

If you can wake-up and go to sleep at the same time, eat at the same time, and provide consistency to the body.. it is happy.

When you travel or run a PRO schedule- as an athlete or executive or worker of any kind.. the body shows signs of hyper-alterness.. releasing cortisol and other stress/ adrenal hormones..

The body then goes into high alert all the time.. never being able to truly come down from the heightened position...

But.. considering all factors..

What I find to be the major reason behind the gain... is GOING OUT TO EAT... even if you order "healthy items" like a salad or vegetable or lean meat.. they are always greeted by the Butters, Marinades, Dressing and Salts that you don't see.. taking a low calorie vegetable and turning into a green hamburger calorically..

ALERT: Eating out multiple nights per week.. within 2-3 hours of bed time without having the chef modify your food is a death sentence.. and can take somebody who exercises everyday.. workouts everyday.. and make them look puffy, bloated, and 5-10lbs heavier...

So if you are looking to make immediate change.. cut the going out to eat.. and if you do go out due to work.. here is the rule:

RULE: NO STARCHY CARBS (Bread/ Pasta)/ LEAN MEAT/ DOUBLE VEGETABLE/ NO ADDED SALT... REQUEST THE FOOD DRY-- The Chef will understand. 

You must take your health into your own hands... going out to eat is a fun, social experience... lets make it a healthy experience as well and we can continue to enjoy our life... and better, more functioning bodies.
