Dieting. Diet. The two words that make most people want to barf...just the thought of it. Two words that bring instant agony to our day and state of mind.
Yet... we all keep falling into the diet pothole. South Beach. Nutrisystems. Adkins. Ketone. Paleo. Plant-Based. Then... there are handfuls of pills and supplements that promise "The Body of Your Dreams"... yet... for many.. their waistline continues to grow year over year.. with short stints of "reduction".. but in the end.. they continue to grow.
I mean are you kidding me people? This is one of the most ridiculous human behaviors...
The effort that people put into trying to find discipline within themselves for an "act" they just can't stand performing.
Then.. once they engage in the diet... there is absolutely no pleasure.. just a day to day tug of war of "this is what I am going to look like" vs. "I want to quit" vs. "Who Cares"... I am ok looking like shit. In the end, most people end up defaming themselves and killing their own self-esteem because they feel like they are quitters... meanwhile.. the system is not built to help you win.
This is a battle most people face. They have for years called it "The Battle of the Bulge"... but it is actually more of a "Battle of the Self"... or a dog fight of making yourself do something that you have really no desire to do... and for me, a big part of this is because you have no trust in what you are doing.
When you have 10+ options on diets, and 100's of "pseudo- experts" telling you about this magic formula, way of eating, plan that they have some-how been able to formulate.. the end results is confusion... and then failure... and that sucks.
I have for years been sick over the diet industry and many of the "performers" that call themselves the "experts"... If there truly were experts.. there would be 1-2 ways of eating.. I mean really.. come on.. The HUMAN BODY MACHINE has been around for a very long time.. and we still are GUESSING on how to fuel it.
We still think that we can create nutrition in a bag, nutrition in a bar, nutrition in a tablet... and that can replace eating a high nutrient, high fiber, high value eating strategy.
Lets face it.. Do you really think starving yourself is the right way?
Do you really think eating massive amounts of animal product/ meats is the right way? Do you really think blending some "miracle-powder" 2-3x per day and not eating real food is the right way? Do you really think eating a diet made of "fake food", packaged goods, high sodium, high sugar, man made synthetics is the right way?
YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW TO EAT? Let your HUMAN/ Animal Instincts take over.. listen to your body.. you can actually feel when you need more greens, you can feel when you have taken in to much sodium and need more fruit based potassium to lower your levels. You know when you need more water and your cells are craving it..
Let's cut the bull-shit.. we know a package of ring dings, ding dongs, devil dogs, cake, cookies, soda, mac and cheese, and apple strudel is bad for us... You fail at anything you do because you don't have a WHY, a mission, a vision, and a true value proposition as to WHY you should eat well.
In all my years coaching high performers, I realized one thing: TELLING SOMEBODY TO EAT A CERTAIN WAY, OR EXERCISE A CERTAIN WAY SO THAT THEY CAN "LIVE" LONGER DOES NOT WORK.
They will engage when "fear", "pressure", or a "self-driven motivation" arises... that is it. Doctors telling somebody they have to do it in order to beat cancer... now you see results. Somebody looking for a cure to psoriasis all of a sudden now can clean themselves after the ingested medicine and topical creams stop working.
Bottom Line: IT IS NOT A PROBLEM OR A PRIORITY UNTIL IT IS A PROBLEM..
