Have you ever felt like you have something in your mind and are having trouble processing it and formulating it into a clear thought and action?
Well, if you said YES, you are not alone.
And, if you said NO, you are probably a lot smarter than me and should probably go teach at Harvard or Oxford :)
Either way, I write this to you this AM because often times many are confused about what a true Coach actually does.
My response is: A Coach helps you untangle your wires, develops a plan for you, and follows that up with an action strategy (your next steps) and holds you accountable to those steps.
Let's talk about why our wires cross in the first place.....
1. We have too many thoughts that are each taking a bit of our attention
Simply put, many of us are achievers. We want to be great, do great, and maximize our potential. Amazing. But, this all comes with a cost- and that cost can be pressure.
Trying to do too much, be too much, and accomplish too much all at once. When this happens, we start to "squeeze" and "press" which is never good for achievement and certainly comes at a cost of our clarity..
2. We are constantly feeling like we are behind
It can happen to us by looking at others, comparing our accomplishments to our vision, or our age- thinking that by now I should have..... You get the point.
But this feeling of wanting to be the best, be known, be a game-changer can again put pressure on us that leads us down some roads that never get us to where it is we desire.
Combine the pressure of our goals with a stacking "to-do" "to-be" by when list and we are sure as hell going to be dead tired and needing some mental resuscitation.
3. We realize life is short and we want to capture every moment
Have you ever looked up from your week and it is already Friday, again?
Time flies. You know it. I know it. We all know it. This also adds pressure to us. We so badly want to do something great for the World, for ourselves, for our families, for those we lead.
We so badly want to put something great into the World and be known for that accomplishment that again, it pressurizes us. For some, we have something great already and just do not want to screw it up or lose it! This adds to the pressure and keeps the wires tangled.
Well, I have good news for you...
We can get out of this state of mind and being, get aligned, and start heading in the direction we want to go in a new state of: Untangled.
We all need our wires untangled from time to time.
Some more often than others- and that is OK.
You are normal- and often times the bigger you think, the more you need the wires untangled.
This is WHY you need a team around you to help you do it.
I am always here for you if you need me- but tangled wires are normal especially for leaders and entrepreneurs.
The World needs Big Thinkers and Big Do-ers.
Just make sure when your wires tangle- you know that there is a cost.
That cost is the outcomes you desire.
Keep your wires untangled!
